The Red Wings’ checking line will be depleted for at least another game as Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm, who suffered lower-body injuries in Saturday’s 4-1 loss at Pittsburgh, will not play Tuesday against Dallas. The Red Wings listed them as day-to-day but won’t know the extent of their injuries until they’re further evaluated this week.
Dominic Turgeon, recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins, made his NHL debut in Sunday’s 4-0 victory at Chicago and will be in the lineup Tuesday, likely centering a line with David Booth and Luke Witkowski. The team has no spare forwards.
more to come....

Funky scheduling. We get a bye week then play back to backs on Saturday and Sunday, off Monday, play Tuesday (tonight) and then off again until Saturday...wtf is up with that?
Anyway Dallas played a day game yesterday in Boston (they won in OT) and traveled to Detroit. Lets jump on em early and get a lead and don't let them wake up. They are playing pretty good hockey of late, 7-3-0 in their last 10, currently site in the Wildcard slot but only 2 points behind St Louis for the 3rds in the Central and have a game in hand.
Since Mrazek got a Shutout in Chicago I'd start him tonight but we all know that would make sense so I expect to see Horward starting hahah.

We know the State of the Union is fantastic. What is the state of the Wings? Playoff chance? Just miss? Buried? From what little I have seen/read they are improving. Saw bits of the Hawks shutout. Obvious they need to win low scoring games as they are the third lowest scoring team in the NHL. Any predictions for the team?

This year: Abby comes back and falls down on his first shift Mantha bags a hat trick but the math teacher scorches his confidence and he doesn't score again this season. Gets waived and picked up by Pittsburgh. Hank starts every power play and every 3 on 3 Next year: Hank retires and Boom Boom gets the C Green gets traded to Pittsburgh and we get Mantha and Sheahan back

The only issue is our pathetic record when our competition is playing the second of a back to back. We have really shit the bed in those games.

The Stars played the game the way it should be played; hard, with intensity and a relentless forechecking. I said that the Wings for the most part played hard in recent games..but tonight they encountered what's real intensity and desire to win.
They toyed with us at times it was fun/sad to Watch.
...and tell me why AA passed the puck to Nielsen on his breakaway ? turning point of the game..

The Stars just flat outworked us. I didn't like our game last night at all. It seemed like a downward turning point was the Witkowski fight. There was no reason to fight as the Johns hit was a clean body check. I'm not a fan of Witkoski and his stupid penalties! Spezza was struggling so Hitch gave him a healthy scratch the previous game. he responds with 2 goals Other coaches can sit vets regardless of years in the league or salary so why can't Blash? AA goal was a sweet one. I wish he would have kept the puck on the 2 on 0 when Neilsen rattled it off the pipe. No games until Saturday!
