I haven't watched any of it and I probably will not. Whoever wins this cheesy tournament and gets the cup will have a * COVID19 asterisk by it anyway. I'll wait and see how the fall starts. I haven't watch any sports since early March other than to check the MLB and NBA to see how they were doing it. The funny thing is after the initial withdraws I'm not really missing it, I now have plenty of free time for my interests other than hockey and sports in general. I'll be back when and if we start the 2020-2021 season. It's pretty hard to miss hockey in the middle of the summer. I watch occasionally but i just can't focus on one game..specially when i see an empty arena ! It is the Covid cup ..really ! But when i finally focus hard you see players giving up their best. The intensity is not over the wall but still there is some good action. But hockey is not a summer sport..sorry..

I'm a traditionalist and not a fan of the tournament style format that disrupts the start of the next season. We should really be getting ready for training camp for the start of 2020-2021 season...and I agree that after the first week or so in June when the Cup is hoisted is the end of when hockey should be played.

Well Boston is out. They were in first when the league suspended play and they go out in the 2nd round 4-1 albeit to a very good T-bay team. Goes to show you how difficult it is to win 4 rounds and the cup. Wings have a long ways to go before being mentioned with these two teams. Their farm system was rated number 18 right now although the next draft should help out a lot. What it tells me is that the Wings do need to sign a couple middle of the road free agents providing it's to short term contracts. No 5 or 6 year deals for Neilsen like players. Back in the early 80s when the Wings were bad Jimmy D signed a bunch of free agents to provide depth to the organization. This made it possible for the cream to rise to the main team but it did take time. A new goalie, at least one decent d-man and perhaps one player with some offensive talent would go a long way for the upcoming year. It won't nearly enough but you want to get the team on an upward trend.

Jarvis - I have a better idea, let's just win the draft lottery a couple times. You can't manage your way to success in Bettman's NHL. That's just the way I feel right now. Let's see how Stevie does. He has a LOT of work in front of him.

Yes Steve Y has a ton of work ahead. I did like the way he talked about making the most out of non first round picks. I think T-bay has a number of those guys and they looked good. Wings will be a lottery team next year. Maybe lady luck will finally work out for them.

Pucks have been the best sport going! Too bad the Wings are years away! Vegas vs TB should be a great Final ! Flip a coin there!

Looking like T-bay and Dallas in the finals but you just never know. All the remaining teams have good balance, defense and goal-tending.
As bad as things may appears for the Wings it could be worse, they could be the Detroit Lions. Losing today after a 23-6 lead in the final quarter. Have not won a championship since the 50s and have only won one playoff game since the Super Bowl system was created between the AFL and NFL back in the 60s. The Fords need to sell that team. They have owned it since 1961 and are just clueless.

i think Bowness should have been named best head coach instead of the Bruins coach...but his interim status was probably the reason why he didnt win. He is doing an amazing job.....

Hope Yzermasn pulls a great team together.

Well I never would have guessed Dallas to be in the cup finals at the start of the playoffs. In the last year there were rumours of Benn and Seguin being moved and perhaps that's what motivated them. Recall that Scotty Bowman told Yzerman that he was going to be traded to Ottawa for Yashin and his model girlfriend. After that Yzerman became a great two way player. Dallas GM, is it Jim Nill, was the assisant to Holland in Detroit. Congrats to him and to his coach for doing such a great job. They pulled in guys like Pavelski and Perry. These are veterans who were ditched by their former teams. Mix that in with great net play and a good defense and they are in the finals. I'm still picking T-bay to win it all at this point but you have to tip your hat to the Dallas team.

Congrats to T-bay for a hard fought win. I thought they deserved the cup and were solid throughout this unusual playoff year.
One thing that was missed, however, was Bettman not getting booed when he came onto the ice. If the sound man had done that then I would have called the tournament a complete success.
