The Detroit Red Wings host the Florida Panthers this evening
The 17-17-and-5 Panthers were supposed to be coming into tonight's game having played the Boston Bruins on Thursday evening, but that game was postponed due to the winter storm blanketing the East Coast with snow.
As such, the Panthers' last game was a 5-1 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday, and that loss snapped a 5-game winning streak. It's assumed that James Reimer will start tonight's game, and he'll probably face Jimmy Howard.
Zetterberg didn't take the morning skate.

Lets get 4th win in a row tonight?
Here are the lines they skated with this morning:
Gustav Nyquist-Dave Booth (filling for Henrik Zetterberg)-Tyler Bertuzzi
Tomas Tatar-Dylan Larkin-Andreas Athanasiou
Darren Helm-Frans Nielsen-Justin Abdelkader
Martin Frk-Anthony Mantha (they'll rotate a center with this line and likely go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen again)
On defense:
Danny DeKeyser-Mike Green
Jonathan Ericsson-Trevor Daley
Niklas Kronwall-Nick Jensen
Xavier Ouellet-Luke Witkowski (one likely to be the seventh D and the other scratched)
In goal:
Jimmy Howard (starting)

I still don't get the "no goal" call. It was a high stick into the net? No, it went off Abby's bleeping glove. I think that was a crap call. Then of course the goal against with .3 nanoseconds left. I'm just in a really bad mood all of a sudden

It hit his stick, it was above the crossbar height...waved off for a high stick. I think if it was just off his glove it would have counted as it wasn’t a hand pass or directed in with the hand.
Howard won this one for us.
We had some bright points but we probably shouldn’t have won. Nice to see.
We’re on a roll boys, 4 game winning streak:)

i don't think the shots clock really tells how this game was played. Yes the Panthers had the edge in the puck possession department but most of their shots were not Dangerous...some were good saves by Howard.
Overall we played a good hard game..and we were clutch, for a change !
Funny...Z didnt play much in the first two periods, didnt deserve to play more i believe as again he look geriatric. Funny again that in the third he played more, started two PP with his regular non effective linemates..and then as soon as we change line and Larks line in on the ice..boom it's in the net.
I Wonder if Z had a chat with Blashill in between periods. He didnt look particularly happy on the bench while the rest were celebrating.
Anyways...good win, fourth in a row folks !

As soon as they started Z and Boom Boom on that last power play when we badly needed a goal I thought we were "toast by Blashill.". Larkin's line got set up with jut 36 seconds left and we scored. I was so relieved.

I don't understand Blash and some of his logic...I mean he'd doing right by riding Howard, why can't he see that the rest of the team? Kronwall and Zetterberg are winding down their great careers but they are not at a level they once were and need roles/minutes reduced. The future is with our youth...let em learn from and take the torch away from calibre of professionals of Hank and Kronner. Play them in al key situations and let them make mistakes now since we're not really going anywhere. Its a much difference situation when we were stacked with veteran talent...Bowman wouldn't use kids in key situations when it could risk chances playoff seeding and winning cups

Remember all the talk about how Blashill knew the kids from GR and was going to develop them? Hank is never going to say "reduce my minutes." Blashill just needs to do it and if Hank squawks tell him it's to keep him fresh. Boom Boom just needs a ticket out of town although with 13 points in 39 games I'm not sure what we'll get for him. Maybe just play him 60 minutes a night and have him stand in front of the net until the next puck careens off of his butt or glove.

Abby should send half his paycheck to Dats. He was a hardworking average 3rd or 4th line player, then they put him with Datsyuk for quite a while and he started to put up some decent numbers and signed a big money contract. As soon as he's no longer playing with Dats he's back to being a plugger who only scores occasionally.

Kinda saw that in Larkin last night when he dug the puck off the boards and fed AA for his setup for Tatar's. Hope that helps get Tatar going again.
