I thought we had a decent start and had a good first. After the Frk PP goal we go our asses kicked pretty much for a good duration until desperation kicked in during the final minutes of the 3rd. Again the official attendance of 19,515 is bullshit. I saw a picture of Frk at ice level by our bench after he scored, you could see all levels of LCA...its not just the lower bowl with all of those empty seats, its the entire barn full of empty seats. I didn't save the game file and forgot to rewind while it was live but I'm pretty sure a penalty should have been called in the scrum in the crease after the Neisen goal...it looked like Carlo put his hand on the loose puck in the crease...either him or the center I believe it was Kuraly. Someone put their hand on the puck in the crease. On to NY Islanders who are a team we probably could compete against but they do have 8 more points than we do

For the first half of the game I was thinking how this team (Boston) can win so many games. In the second half they showed how. I personally think Mantha was competing hard yesterday, getting physical with Chara on more than one occasion. Larkin and AA were underwhelming, but AA just has not been that good playing center, so not sure if you need to continue to push him there. Bert I guess was one of those passengers Blashill was referring to based on his ice time. On the other hand, was he really that awful in the first couple of shifts that Blashill immediately decided to bench him.
Howard was good overall imo. Abby almost scoring into his own net from basically a blue line was a pretty comical/sad moment of the game.

-----its the entire barn full of empty seats.
----and that's really sad. The rink is empty and quiet for most of the games, there is no home ice atmosphere.

Red Wings fans couldn’t accept the lockout reality that no, players didn’t want to play in Detroit for titles, it was money and Detroit had the most. Once every team is spending the same money, your GM has to learn how to field a team without being able to take advantage of financially struggling clubs.
This is the first season Ken Holland really seems to be understanding how to do that. Huge hole last two seasons in terms of players who can spark the team beyond just scoring a goal. This year, you’ve got Witkowski doing a good job and now Bertuzzi too. But you still haven’t been able to fill your holes on defense or swing any deals towards that, and that hole has been there since Lidstrom retired.
Game last night was a product of that. Boston missed the playoffs for two seasons. They moved a lot of guys out and are still reshaping the team. But finally getting Krug help moving the pucks (via draft granted), they almost look as good as they were in the Tim Thomas era.
Until you fix that hole, and you’re going to have to swing a trade to do it, there isn’t a coach in the league besides Babcock smart enough to put this team past the middle of the bubble where they are now.
People won’t be selling out the LCA until there is a playoff competing team, rather than best non playoff team.
