Anyone been watching Riley Sheahan of late? Playing well for the Pens. Haven't been following Riley. But define for me what "playing well" means? He has, like, a goal or 2 before the last day of the season? Key player on their PK.Already has eight goals and 15 assists as well as being +5. Granted he is playing on a much better team. Not a star for sure but much better than he looked in Detroit.

He has exceeded expectations in Pitt. Google Sheahan/Rutherford. Multiple articles Praising Sheahan. Could not find ANY that suggests Rutherford wants to move him.

Sheahan 53 games, 8 G, 16 A, 24 PTS, +8. He would be leading our team in +/-. He has a cap hit $1.88m
Current players in here with similar numbers along with cap hits
Darren Helm, C 53 7 15 22 2 ($3.85) Justin Abdelkader, LW 53 10 16 26 -2 ($4.25) Andreas Athanasiou, C 49 11 15 26 -12 ($1.26) Frans Nielsen, C 60 13 13 26 2 ($5.25) Tomas Tatar, LW 60 16 11 27 -9 ($5.30) Gustav Nyquist, C 60 16 12 28 1 ($4.75)
No Goal Sheahans 2 worst season in the league a guy named Jeff Blashill was the coach. I;m not saying he's to blame but merely pointing that out that sometimes personalities clash or respect isnt 2 way street or perhaps just a change in scenery asn different system of play can make a difference.

So the Wings play the Canes tonight but then have 10 of the next 11 on the road including a tough west coast trip and , oh yeah, that home game is against Vegas who are on top of the league. It's possible the Wings could take a nose dive on this trip so the Red Wing brass has to seriously look at where they are at. They need to do some trades. One is not enough IMO. So..... Get what you can for Green. Trade a forward or two for a young D-man with potential Trade fringe guys for draft choices. I don't want a 10 year rebuild like the Oilers or the Leafs but I don't mind 2 or 3 years of stockpiling picks and prospects and balancing it out with some vets. Larkin will be captain one day. He's a solid player and is showing more leadership abilities each year. There is a great hockey future in Detroit but it has to be planned out in today's salary cap scenario and not the plans of the 90s.
