Green is skating in practice at Winnipeg’s Bell MTS Place.
Zetterberg not skating in practice today, most likely a maintenance day, or simply a day-off. Maintenance means he's got something to fix, well i think Z is healthy, he just needs a break.
Green said he is ready to play tomorrow.
Howard in goal.. man i'm so smart !

Well that was pretty sad. Glendening -3 with 12:31 TOI and I don't recall seeing hin take any shifts in the 3rd WTF is the point in dressing Frk for 3:55 and Witkwoski for 2:02? I think we should give Jensen a shot at playing forward, he has poise with the puck, is fast and can forecheck. Larkin has to get better on faceoffs if he wants to remain a center. I didn't like Howard on the second goal. A NHL netminder should never be beaten that far out with no traffic in front. It looks like the Jets studied film of Howard, beat him up high under the bar wher emama hides the cookie jar. The fat lady has sung, we've really have been done since late October...pretty damn sad. This season can't end fast enough for me. On to Minnesota...I need a little help from the Wings with the Dallas Stars, with a Red Wing win against the Wild. I want a #3 spot for the Stars instead of a Wild Card

The way we started this one i knew we were in trouble. You can't play lazy like we did in the first against a team like that. Even though we scored the first goal they toyed with us..literally dominated us like i haven't seen in a long time, from mid first and all the second period the puck had a big Jets logo on it !..it belongs to them !
We manage to hang in there, and again we found a way to make it interesting, we were intense in the third, jsut enough to win...
..but fell short again.
Helm-Niel-Abby line was atrocious for most of the game, except late in the third...For a moment watching them i though about buyout the whole line ! Would that be a guiness record ?
Now i hope that gradually they will finally understand that the playoffs push is over, lets think about next season starting now.

since hardly anyone posts here I'll just copy and paste what I comment on Mlive vs talking to an empty room.
Sad, our season was over in November. Don't let the final score fool you. We tried but we were totally dominated by the Jets who were just playing around against a much weaker team. Jimmy Howard was beaten like a rented mule x4. I cannot wait for this season to end pray Illitch shows some backbone and forces Kenny Holland up the ladder and out as GM or out of the org entirely (my choice is GM/Coach canning)) Jeff Blashill is WAY out of his league at the NHL level and should have been fired at the end of last season. The pattern right from the get go this season was identical to last season, expecting a different outcome ( a max of 82 pts but may not reach 80) was foolish and he should have been fired by US Thanksgiving. I'm glad we have some 11 draft picks for 2018 but Red Wing fans old enough to remember......we are a season and 3/4 into Dead Things v2.0 and looks like we're in it for a long haul. We have to get over thinking we're still the gold standard of the NHL because of the 4 cups in modern era NHL. We've had little chances of success since losing to the Cup to the Pens. When 16 of 30/31 teams make the playoffs the lower seedings and Wildcard teams are mediocre so making the playoffs is a joke to think its a major achievement...you're still golfing in May. We need to build from the ground up with infusion of new blood from outside the Detroit Red Wing organization....continue on as is in the front office/GM and they'll be giving cars away for 41 home LCA games to try to fill the empty seats now that the novelty of the new barn is past us.

Well 11 picks for this year and hopefully we can trade for another big batch in 2019. Who do we really haved down on the farm that can really be a difference maker? Are Hicketts and/or Svechnikov difference makers? How good is our current group of stars? How often do AA, Larkin or Mantha carry the play in a game and really dominate? How ioften do they carry the team over 10 or 20 games? I remember even DFC getting hot a couple times and carrying the team. Average players on a bad team will get enough TOI to rack up 18-25 goals. But they're still just average players. What do we really have in AA, Larkin and Mantha? Maybe they are just average. Maybe this coach just isn't coaching them to their potential.
Anyway, with drafting and development it's going to take at least 2-3 years for the pieces to BEGIN to fall into place, even with perfect execution. Sorry if I don't post as much any more. Quite honestly I still turn most games on out of habit but barely watch them. What a boring, uninteresting, uninspiring team. I hope for big changes in the off season, too. It's still a business, after all, and I'm sure the Ilitch family is not enthralled with the empty barn every night.

..." What a boring, uninteresting, uninspiring team."
--its obvious you don't Watch the game anymore... They are not boring because they try...harder than i've ever seen a Wings team try, the are inspired more than previous winner teams.
These weaknesses in strategy are screaming at you on game film, what’s our beloved Math teacher looking at. It’s not a compete problem, these players are killing themselves trying to make a flawed system work.

As I see it we're really not as bad with the talent stack as our record states. We have a cook in the kitchen with some really good ingredients bit he can't make anything edible with his mix of ingredients choses to use for every single meal in his failed recipes but the boss keeps letting him cook.
We have 10 OTL's -- if we win 1/2 of them we're up +5 points with a total of 67pts (1 Win away from the Wildcard). We've lost 10 regulation games by 1 goal. Win 30% of those thats a +6 point bring the total to 73 pts and that is a Wildcard slot. This isn't even counting the 1 goal games we give up empty netters. We've lost games in closing minutes and relinquished point I wont add them but you get the picture. Couple that with the the numerous games the team is ill prepared for battle, getting scored on at cardinal sin points of hockey games. Improve special teams play from the near bottom to mid level and we win a few more games which would put us in reaching distance of the #3 slot in the division. Now factor in gift losses to teams currently above us in the division and conference who wouldn't have gotten the points that also would bring us up a bit.
Having said all of that, we still don't have what takes to be a playoff team capable of winning a series so I guess its all a moot point. I'm just stating that with the margin of error so tight with the parity and 3 point games preventing you to make up ground in the standings we cannot be comfortable losing points like we do. I hate losing things we shouldn't be losing regardless. Dick with ears has to go.

Having 11 draft choices this year is a big plus. Although I would have liked to have seen more trades this year, it's possible that a number can be done at the draft table. Right now it's still possible for the Wings to finish in the bottom six (difficult schedule over 10 games) and the top six players (according to TSN experts) are really good players will be NHL bound at some point.
Draft well and don't be afraid to make some trades for the future. Tatar trade was a step in the right direction but more has to be done.
The dead things of the 70s and 80s was a different time. Smart management can begin to turn things around in 3 years and Wings are in year 2 of the downturn. It's up to the management to see what needs to be done and then do it. Don't sell out just to get a wild card spot.

you know Jarvis that you can finish 6th and not getting pick no 6...yes that is what the lottery draft will do to ya...exactly what it does to us last year, drafting worst than our final position in the standings.
By the way have you seen the Leafs tonight ? Dressed almost all in white ! ..crazy..

Good point about the draft positions. Yes I saw the Leaf uniforms and had a laugh. Leaf fans will buy anything however so maybe it's still a marketing win for them.

it is a marketing tool..no doubt. I believe the Caps didnt have their regular jersey too...
You know..i miss Babcock. As much as i was for him to leave Detroit, looking at him behind the Leafs bench even though it was not pretty on the ice, he still look like a general under control. Blashill looks like a Math teacher in control...of his classroom !
