Luke Glendening is out the last 2 games with lower body injury, this bodes well for Montreal because Luke at a -13 can't shut down opponents which is why we have him Lets Go Canadiens!

Luke has a bad +- but plays the game "the right way." I think he should get more minutes.

Well one more to go. With tonight's results (NYI wins) I think the Wings will finish no better than 6th from the bottom with a chance to move to a lower ranking and therefore a higher pick. Assuming nothing changes over the next 48 hours the Wings do get a solid player with the 6th pick.
More interesting for me tonight was the pre-game discussion about the Wings and what to do about making the playoffs in the future and the result was that the Wings need 3 (three) top players in their prime to even be considered a contender and that they are looking at their young players to become one of those three top guys. It suggests to me that if some of their young players don't step up to the challenge then they will be trade bait. I also think the Wings will attempt to move up in the draft no matter where they end up. Seven picks in the top three rounds. This will be the most interesting off season the Wings have had in a long time.
And one more thing, if the Wings have a buy out available then one of Helm, Abbey or Neilson should go. No need to keep all three if the Wings are on a youth movement.

-Agree... Neilsen and Abby have been sad to Watch lately. And please don't let you fool by the sudden outburst of goals by Helm..he too should get waived..

I am starting to think the worst contract we have in terms of term/salary/value is DK

I am starting to think the worst contract we have in terms of term/salary/value is DK That is a classic example of too long of contract duration. He logs a lot of minutes but he's one player who never seemed to get any better at the NHL level. I had high hopes for him after seeing him in his first few games out of college with Detroit. At least his +/- improved from -22 last season to +1 this season. For a big guy he plays fairly small. He has little to no offence abilities. He should study old tapes of Konstantinov to see how to add some sandpaper to his game and be difficult to play against I still think he has some potential that may flourish a bit when Kronwall retires. I think sometimes players have too much respect for the veterans past work and defer to them vs. saying "sit down old man...I got this now " We'll probably see more f that until Hank and Kronner hang em up.

DK is not the type of player who can log 20 mins or more. a second pairing at best..But right now we are stuck with him as we don't have better option.
