...what else can we talk !
Here is a look at the bottom six clubs and their lottery odds depending on where they finish:
Rank Team Points ROW % No. 1 pick % Top 3
26. Vancouver 72 31 7.5 23.3
27. Detroit 72 25 8.5 26.1
28. Montreal 71 27 9.5 28.8
29. Arizona 70 27 11.5 33.9
30. Ottawa 67 26 13.5 38.8
31. Buffalo 62 24 18.5 49.4
If the Red Wings win and Vancouver loses its season finale Saturday at Edmonton, Detroit will finish 26th. The Red Wings would then have a 7.5 percent chance at winning the lottery and acquiring the first pick, which is certain to be Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, widely considered the best blue line prospect in the draft in decades. Detroit would have a 23.3 percent chance at a top-three pick in a strong draft that includes forward Andrei Svechnikov of Barrie (OHL) and Brady Tkachuk of Boston University.

We need a generational D man to build the team around. Thinking about it makes me appreciate Lids more and more. All the years I watched I don't think I fully understood or appreciated his impact.

We need a generational D man to build the team around. Thinking about it makes me appreciate Lids more and more. All the years I watched I don't think I fully understood or appreciated his impact. Exactly. Why ? Because he never did anything wrong. How many goals have we seen deflected off E, or DK...? too many. And the thoughts that we have after that is to say "how bad Lucky E was or else..." No bad luck there, just bad positioning. it never happened with Lids. NEVER !! Not because he was lucky but because he knew how to position himself in front of our net. Lids never made a bad outlet pass..Why ? cause he was safe all the time, his passes were always short and accurate. No bomb attempt that results into an iceing like E or Jensen or Green. Have you ever seen anyone free in front of our net when lids was there ?....never. He was not physical. Again, perfect positioning.. yeah...one of a kind of a player... Maybe we will draft someone like him this year....come to think of it NAAAAH !!

Low percentage but we at least have a chance. Have you seen that kid? If he can do that shit in the NHL he’s a franchise player who you build your team around, yup, like Lidstrom. No coincidence when Lids retired that was pretty much it for us. I’m willing to bet Nick could lace em up today and still be our best defenseman. You never win a cup without an elite defenseman in the mix

I mean, on the bright side, Red Wings scouts are saying there’s 3 or 4 more potential franchise changing defenseman projected to go in the top 10...and Ken Holland hasn’t weighed in yet to only talking about first pass skills, which we know from him means yet another Ericsson or Dekeyser who produces nothing on the score board and sucks at helping all these forwards get the puck.....
Pretty much every defenseman projected for top 15 on most lists has the scouting report to be a game changer.

Five of the first 10 picks might be defencemen this year. Even if the Wings can't get the number one guy it would be a slick move if Holland can get two picks in the top ten. It's quantity vs quality and it's hard to know what's best to do since the Wings need a real youth infusion. Right now - free agents don't interest me too much . Build through the draft.

We sealed the #27 slot. We're officially a bottom feeder, 27 of 31.
Chris Illitch has given Holland a contract for 2 more years So reading between the lines there may be a chance of a coach change, using the analogy Illitched used - he likes a pilot who has did it before and Kenny Holland has did it before. I really hope he applies that analogy on Jeff Blashill and sends his ass packing because the only thing Blashill has done is fail
