We start to look like a team that is re-building. Vets start taking lesser roles (especially boom boom). Kids start assuming larger roles. I'd like to see Rasmussen and Zadina on the team at some point in the season. Larkin is emerging as more of a set up guy so I'd like to see chemistry develop between him and SOMEONE as a go to line when we need a goal. A line that can "swarm 'em" as Dick Mc used to say.
Ihaven't followed the draft ar farm team that closely the past couple years. Do we have any up and coming d men we can pin any hope on other than Hickets?

McIssac should eventually crack the line-up. Hronek might as soon as next year. I'm surprise that Hicketts is not consider as a possibility too…
There was another defenseman i like in that last D-camp...big guy that assisted on Zadina scrimmage OT winner But for him its a long-term project.
Cholo should be near too..I like what i saw about him, not so much the last prospect camp but last year. My Watch tower is on Cholo when the next training camps is around.
The best way to see the youth movement sets in would be to see Z retire.
Strange but...i wouldnt mind that. I think our beloved coach relied too much on vets, specially Z so…if he retires maybe Blashill will finally understands...

My expectations are low but I welcome the change to rebuild, phasing out geezers and giving the youth some "on the job" training and increased rolls of younger players. I think we can't go any lower so I'm hoping the only way to go is up. I don't think based on what we have right now that we'll make the playoffs. I still have a disdain for the coach. Also as much as I hate to say this I hope Hank doesn't return....there I said it In order to really make the turn to the future here we need to let go of some of the past I'm looking forward camp and hope some kids can make the cut and contribute vs over ripening down on the farm.

I think everyone is on the same page with respect to a rebuild in Detroit. As for making the playoffs, I'm not going to live or die with that result. No point in getting there if your team is perceived as a bye into the next round. Wings need to give the youth a chance. If Zee plays (still has an injury issue) then this should be his last year and he should have his playing time reduced. Kronner will be done as well. A real transition will be taking place and it won't be easy. Leaders have to develop. Just like Jimmy D had a plan of action back in the early 80's the Wings need a plan and STICK TO IT. We want the tide to turn for the better but it also has to be for a number of years and not just a quick fix.

Some flashes of hope would be nice. Watching the team wither the past ten years has been depressing. Sorry Ken, even I could have done better from my phone. Overpaid your role players and lack the cap to attract star power. You’ve had a nice draft for a change. Maybe continue to wither and get that cornerstone Dman in next draft is the plan. Let’s . . . Go . . . . . Red . . . . . Wings.

I want to see Z play this year. My main hope is just to see a better product on the ice and that at least 2 out of 3 of our high picks perform to expectations. I still think in the end we will be a lottery team again.

i Don't think Z in the line-up will allow what you hope to see…
Remember who is our coach..if Z is playing, he will log 25min per game play all PPs no matter what…
i hope he retires...its time to move on...i'm ready to suffer one more year with our prospects in the line-up
...i hope Kronwall retires too..We didnt win with them last year i Don't think they will be better with an extra year in their bodies...

I'd take Z as a 16 minute a night guy and on the second PP. Time to assume a more mentor role. If not, what Pierre said ....

Yeah - suspect you are right Pierre. I still want to do the game in Montreal, by the way. So let's keep in touch.

Well it has to be next calendar year because of my vacation time. Is there an earlier prospect in 2019 in Montreal I missed?

The reason why I want Z to retire is what Pierre laid out above...he's get 20 TIO a night, on the first PPU and cost us OT losses because coach will play him in OT on the wide open ice surface when he shouldn't see any icetimem in OT
