Hicketts are among the players on the roster for Friday’s game at Toronto
Wings coach Jeff Blashill and Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock have agreed to field lineups heavy on NHL regulars that night, though the Wings will have a young defense because of injuries to veterans.
Of the prospects competing to stick around when the season begins next week, Cholowski has looked especially good. He, Sulak, Hronek and Hicketts all have played significant minutes as veterans Mike Green, Trevor Daley, Danny DeKeyser and Jonathan Ericsson are sidelined by injuries. Cholowski, Sulak and Hicketts each have played in five games and Hronek, four.
The final 23-man roster has to be submitted by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
We will probably have to keep 3 rookies on defense to start the season. i suspect, Cholo, Hicketts and Hronek are the leaders...with Sulak very close...

And of course our "veteran" Kronwal coughs up the puck on the PP. What a bad giveaway. He shouldn't see another minute of PP time this game. But let me guess - he will.

i thought we played a heck of a game. Take out the last 5 minutes of the first and we are in this one..
take out Howard and we are in this one too. Howard, overall, has been bad in this camp so far. Critical game for Bernier tomorrow if he wants to be the starter oct 4th
Raz was pathetic. He has lost of few marbles tonight. slow, lazy, a times this game was too fast and intense for him. He better be good tomorrow or its GR for him.
honorable mentions to the 4 rookies Ds. They played well, maybe Hronek was a bit better in his zone.
Dishonorable mention to the coach. In the first we had two consécutives PPs and on both occasions Blashills started it with kronwall and it led to nothing has usual. Typical Blashill reaction when he sees a vet..he drools !! You start Cholo on these PPs and we take the lead.
Good game overall against a team that has more cohesion than us because they are use to play together. Our kids still have to learn to know each other.

Good to see Howard is in mid season form.
Jimmy H has been a decent mid tier goalie but he's never been a star goalie. This will be his last year with the Wings so I won't complain about his too much. Didn't realize the Wings had so many injuries on defense. Young guys had their chance. Cholowski was the best of the group.
