Toronto is in!
If you told me last season that 5 of the Original 6 teams would make the playoffs this season and Detroit would be the only one out I'd say gimme me some of what you're smoking.

Well tonight's game showed that the Wings have a ways to go before they are a contender. Montreal took out six (repeat six) regulars and still beat the Wings in OT. Montreal's minor league players looked good against the Wings and that has me a bit worried about the future. I said on the old board that this upcoming draft is going to be huge for the Wings. They need to make some changes and also get younger. Coaching issues are one thing but there is a talent void as well. Okay...next game is the last at the Joe. Let's see if the boys can show some pride and bounce back to win it. It's against the only team lower than them in the Eastern conference. Jarvis..we had no motivation. Full line-up or not it doesn't matter we had no plan, no Nothing and with good reason..IT'S OVER ! it was funny in the first period, what a mess we were, each Wings trying to skate around every Habs, deep in our zone, dangerously..funny ! If the game would have mattered we probably would not have seen such a mess in the first. Then got better a bit as the game progressed. The players don't care and played for themselves, skating the puck out alone, no support, doing stuff they wouldn't do if the game would matter. And Lorito look decent. I mean, how come this guy isnt good enough to do with Glen's been doing for a few years now ? Didnt check Lorito's stats, face-off, PKs, stuff like that but he look good, can move the puck and make plays. And we cant trust Mrazek for next year. I'm sure the Wings will give him a good chance next year with a very short leash..just like Blashill. One more nightmare game and its over.

I don't put much stock in what went down on the ice. Sure Montreal didnt have the usual line up but neither did we. I like to at look at like we're last in the division and in 15th place in the conference and we were one shot from winning against a much stronger opponent...granted the game meant nothing to either team.
While I'm disappointed in the season I have to say I'm proud that we didn't lay down dead the last 6-8 games...whether we won or lost we competed for the most part

It might take a full month of october/november before it happens (cause by then they will realize they need to fire Blashill)but next year this team will look much better. Just imagine a line like this; Mantha-Larks-AA Priceless ! If our head coach doesn't play with their minds this line will produce 75 goals next season.

I would be much MUCH more optimistic about their chances for next season if they were to start with a fresh face behind the bench. Frankly, unless KH gets moved, I simply don't see it happening. The season just ended saw multiple opportunities for KH to have removed Blashill but he dug in and I am afraid he will dig in next season as well. It won't end well but it will result in big changes in management and with the coaching situation.
Sadly, for us fans, it will be another winter of futility!
