one more point...better than Nothing.
Another great effort, this time, starting mid third period, we started to run out of gas.
Still lack of cohesion between the Ds and the forwards is our main problem. Rarely a good pass at neutral zone where we can pick up speed.
All the kids played well. But we can't expect miracle with a bunch of greens. We could expect miracles coming from Mantha who, again, was floating for the most part. Not much cohesion with Larks so far. I'd try to pack up a line by playing Mantha with AA and Vanek.
Vanek played hard but as soon as he's got a chance he is looking for AA. Can't someone tell Vanek that he is suppose to be the shooter ?
AA hangs to the puck to long. Wait, wait and wait some more..and suddenly the puck is gone.
Howard played well. Simply a bad luck goal on the second...but a bad goal on the first one. But he saved our bacon in OT..
Once this team finds some cohesion and starts to play as a unit, the wins will start piling up.

I'm fairly happy with the young defenseman logging some icetime. Bertuzzi showed some pretty good hands on his goal. I would have liked the win and hope we can do better than 2 points out 6 this season or we're gonna get a high draft pick I didnt see Jensen's fight in LA the previous night as I fell asleep but they replayed it last night...dude can fight

Lots of energy and enthusiasm. We controlled the game for about 2 1/2 periods- but the last ten minutes it was all Anaheim. We ran out of gas and they had us on our heels. What can you say about Jimmy Howard? The guy has been a beast in the nets and looked stellar last night. He made several spectacular saves. I was listening to the Anaheim feed and they were gushing about how great he played. Also they were very complimentary about the kids: Larkin, Bertuzzi, Matha, AA, Sulak and Cholowski. Rasmussen has been the invisible man for the better part of 3 games. He was roughing it up a little (good to see) but needs to go to the goal and stay there more than he has.
How do you get a win? Is the team just good enough to lose by a goal to some of the better teams in the league? It's time to get a win. We are playing just bad enough to lose. We need to find a win to keep the energy and confidence of the kids. It was nice to see Blash give the kids a little room to be creative. One thing that bothered me is that it took forever to actually get a SOG. : Can hear Blashill's pre-game talk, "We took too many shots without thinking. Pass it around more and work for a better angle." That's the kind of crap that gets you two SOGs in the first ten minutes of the game. We need to SHOOT THE PUCK!
Did you see the fancy hands Bertuzzi showed on his goal? Wonderful. We need more of that- in close to the net- where goals get scored.

So far I am happy with the way the team plays. They play hard, they play with structure. More importantly we are developing the kids. When the veteran dmen come back, most if not all youngsters will go to GR and that's sad.

Need to get through this month. Mentioned before. Went to bed after the second figuring they had a good shot...but no.
