Man ...what a scoring machine !
Thank God their defense is human ! We might score a few on them..
I'm a hardcore Red Wings fan but i'm drooling at the sight of Matthews. The most skill forward i've seen in a long time. Some goal scorer...not so great on defense..thank God !
Our kids on the blue line must be ready.. otherwise it will be…
HELL !!!

Cholo is now out and day-to-day with an undisclosed injury..
It’s not the end of the world, but Cholowski has been the best Red Wings defenceman early in this season. A surprise to many, but Cholowski was able to take that job and run away with it.
Cholowski scored his first NHL goal in his debut and followed up that performance with two assists in the game against the Kings on Sunday night. He has been valuable on both sides of the ice for the Wings in the first three games, so let’s see what the Wings can do without their hot defenceman.

Yes the Leafs are on top of the world and I hope that it continues for a good part of the season. I want Leaf fans to have something that they haven't had since the days of Dave Keon...….EXPECTATIONS.
They are favoured to win the cup as per Vegas oddsmakers. So tonight is just one game but I will be looking forward to when the Leafs crash and burn in the playoffs (hopefully to a team like New Jersey) and the players have to deal with the Toronto media.
Too bad Cholo is out. Would have liked to see how he fared against a potent offense. Matthews is a star player and he apparently is a decent chap off the ice too. I sense that Leaf fans are buying ever scalper's ticket for this one. Might be 50/50 in the stands.
Still....Go Wings.

at times we fought hard. But mature talent prevailed.
Some disappointment.. where is Abby ? where is Neilsen again ? ..and i can include Vanek in the disappointment column.
One note..on the second Leaf goal, when they said that Howard had no chance (pass across the goal mouth)…
could be !
BUT
Just some moment before ...Vanek made a perfect pass across the goal mouth to AA and Anderson went sliding across and made the save...Had he not make the save the play by play guy would have said "Anderson had no chance "....
….but he did make the save so..
That is the difference between a clutch goalie and Howard. Howard is a decent goalie with major physical flaws, like his inability to move from side to side with speed. He use to be better but now, busted groin, tells him to relax, Don't do too much.
Clutch goal is something we can't get. Goal post by Vanek, rebound to Larkin ..another post !! Bad luck or ...else !
Hronek made a blunder early in the game for a goal..he didnt look good on it, and after that his icetime duminished gradually. He will eventually visit GR soon.
Anyway..still a fun game to Watch. H

Pierre you are correct on the goalie difference. The Leaf announcer stated that Anderson (goalie) knew that Vanek had already made up his mind to pass and could anticipate the play and therefore the save. Howard lost track of who was in his end and made the pass option easy.
Leafs are playing well. I would not be surprised if that continues until Christmas. We'll see if the league adjusts to them or not.
As for the Wings, the best thing I heard was that the Wings (starting from the previous year) have 30 draft picks in three years and many of those in the first 3 rounds. They also will have about 23 million in extra cap space coming but I didn't hear if it was next year or the year after. So the Wings need to continue to build a good young team and then acquire some key top line free agents.

If we could play 60 minutes like we played the last 5-10 minutes of the game we might win one. I didn't like Howard on the one Matthews goal that was just a wrist shot that Howard should have had...I know, I know its Matthews but Howard was square and perfect line of sight.
We need to improve special teams.
Jensen is playing like he wants to keep a spot, nice hands on his two goals.
Abby, Helm and Glendenning all should NOT be dressed at the same time. What a waste of bench space and valuable on the job training for rookies.
Note: Tomorrow's game in Boston has been move to a 3:00pm start time due to MLB ALCS

They had their opportunities....a couple of posts on the one play, a couple of huge saves by Andersen in the 1st. Detroit can really skate and flip it around coming into the zone, but they don't know how to score and they turn the puck over in their own zone. All 3 of Toronto's first 3 goals were a result of turning it over on relatively simple plays. Can't do that against high scoring teams like the Leafs. Toronto scores with ease but it's such a battle for Detroit. The Leafs dominated the second but the Wings dominated the third, scored to get within 1, took a suspect penalty and 10 seconds later it was in the back of their net to put them down by 2 again. A few of those penalties were suspect...even the one Matthews took...there's no way that was a penalty. Difference is, Detroit's pp isn't likely to make you pay and Toronto's is deadly...so if the refs are calling penalties that are really weak, it's a huge advantage for the Leafs. I thought there were a couple of obvious penalties late in the game that the refs didn't call. Detroit has played pretty well in its 1st 4 games and still haven't come away with a victory. Hopefully they don't dig themselves too big of a hole that they'll never be able to climb out of.
