Sad through 2 periods.
We start the game going 14 minutes without a shot on goal. Crowd at LCA gave a good sarcastic cheer when we got our first shot.
Detroit is no longer Hockeytown USA.

Sitting here trying to think what to say
The only thing that comes to mind is I'm still not sold on Larkin being the next captain.
I guess the other thing is I'm glad they FINALLY realized AA is one of the few guys on this team that has any talent
Lastly, we need to start sifting thru our "top" draft picks as we go and figure out real fast which are keepers and which ones to broom - I'm thinking Mantha needs to be broomed. Of course as soon as we do that he'll score 35 goals in a better environment

It's been a long time since i've seen a domination like this against us…
And why wear white ? Don't we need all the Tools for us when we play home ? Coming back from a road trip its red we should have wear…
We couldnt touch the puck for 45 minutes, then it got better.
Of course we can't blame the coach for sending a bunch of players not ready to compete…..yeah right..

The type of game that might get a coach fired

I think with Mantha he probably isn't a broom outta here. I just think Jeff Blashill's double-standard when rookies make mistakes they get demoted to grind lines but when a vet make the same mistakes they get moved to a top 6 spot. Mantha is just fragile and Blashill is crushing any confidence he had. I think you know which of the two I'd like to see get a one way ticket outta here If starting the season getting a measly 4 points out of possible 18 that would be enough under normal circumstances to fire the coach but we know DRW Management is no longer normal. Firing Blashill and Holland will never happen as Illitch Jr's don't have the balls to do so. Hell I'd even fire Devellano. Mike is tossing and turning in his grave. Without any changes get used to Dead Things v2.0

Mantha is just fragile and Blashill is crushing any confidence he had. --Could be. But Mantha, most of the time, certainly doesn't help his cause. Skating with the puck with his mouth piece out makes me want to puke. The guy Simply doesn't have a clue how to play in the NHL...Does he think it's pond hockey ?? i just can't stand Mantha, and this year i think Blashill is patient with him. I wouldnt want to see him traded, he's got all the tools in the world to score 35..maybe someday some coach will make him understand… i guess it wont be Blashill He needs a quick in the butt...i'm willing to give it to him...

I'd rather fire Blashill and give Mantha a second chance under a better coach. I think he can be a 30 goal scorer playing as is...maybe more if he worked on consistency. He just takes off shifts and whole nights and that falls on him for sure. So Blashill is saying its inexcusable to not be repaired to work and compete....granted a lot of that is on the players but ultimately are of the coaches responsibilities. Funky schedule...no games for us until Friday. Mantha is just fragile and Blashill is crushing any confidence he had. --Could be. But Mantha, most of the time, certainly doesn't help his cause. It's certainly conceivable we end up with a record of something like 3-25 or 5-22 here in a couple months. I kinda hope so in a perverse way. Blashill should get shown the door and better draft picks.

That was the worst game I've seen from the wings in a long time. Blashill and all the "A" letter wearers don't seem to have any answers except to say "it's inexcusable" and "we didn't show up". Well last time I looked it was coaches responsibility to prepare his team to play. THese are young kids and haven't developed as professionals yet- they need a little external motivation like they got in juniors. I just don't see the encouragement and any motion from Blashill during the game. There are still a lot of Blashill apologists out there and say, "Well if he only had a talented team he'd be a good coach"... well can't that be said of all coaches? Even Dave Lewis was a winner as Head Coach when he had all that talent on the Wings. Anyone can win with great players- that doesn't make them a good coach- it just means they are fogging the mirror. Mayo Smith won a world championship with the 1968 Tigers and he as never known for his brilliance.
Important questions: 1- How long before we see another one of these "we didn't come to play" games 2- What's the over/under of Blash being gone before we eat Christmas dinner? 3 What does everyone think- is Blashill developing the kids enough to keep him around? I don't see it but maybe I am wrongo.

1. Probably about 5 games....or 5 periods?
2.Less that 20 percent chance with Ken Holland leading the pack.
3. Blashill is doing little or nothing to help the kids on this team develop. They, collectively, look like a team with no hockey IQ. Every other team anticipates how our players will react, where they will put the puck, when they will try to consistently force passes, etc. but our players seem to have their heads in a fog. There is no system and no structure. That is a coaching problem and, from my perspective, he should have been fired two years ago. It won't happen under Holland though and that is worse than watching a putrid product on the ice.

I think until we purge the coach we will continue on the Dead Thing path. He should have already have been fired. I think we need to implode and rebuild with new blood, new system and new fresh ideas. We should fire Holland and maybe Devellano too.

You know Shawn i agree with a lot of what you say… BUT What we have been doing for 30 years use to work..and i'm afraid to "the need to implode"..and start from scratch ! ...just imagine that "scratch" means being another Buffalo Sabres ?...or anothe Edmonton Oilers ? naaahh...i Don't want to see that… I'm willing to see some changes..but not hardcore ! Bring on SY….a true Red Wings...can someone put me to sleep until he is named Gm ??

I don't know we're already fastly approaching being dead last in the NHL. Why delay it or drag on? If one always loses just moving pawns in the game of chess when do change your approach? Sooner or later you have to move pieces of a higher hierarchy. I'll take Stevie to see what he can do building from the ground up vs. what we're seeing today. Also lets hire a coach who's last name doesn't start with a B That is code for NOT letting Dan Bylsma take over for dick with ears...we had Babcock and Blasill, time for a new letter
