Overall we were totally outplayed with some decent shifts.
We were not ready at the start, the Oilers were.
A question...who is our worst defense at the moment ?...my vote goes to Daley....its amazing how lazy and slow he is sometimes, closely followed by Green, but we all know that Green in our zone is a mess.
Can't wait when the brass fully understand or realize that Sulak, Hronek and Hicketts and better than Green, Kronwall and Daley. At that moment we might be able to evaluate this team.
Overall a decent effort..but it was not enough.

This was a dud of a game. Sadly we only played perhaps 10-15 minutes of the "60 minutes of Hell" promised by Blashill. Anytime you give up a goal in the first 12 seconds of play it's bad. You're fighting an uphill battle the rest of the way. Nice goal by DLR off some hard work by Rasmussen and a nifty backhand pass from Nyquist. Gus is putting together a very good contract year. Bernier, aside from that miscue in the first 12 seconds played a pretty fair game. I want to say good job to DDK- but I can't. His goal was a fluke and he was on the ice for all four of the Oiler goals. Mantha looks like he slacked off from the last 2 games he's played.
One pet peeve of mine is Blashill going with 11 forwards and 7 d-men. That forces him to juggle not only his forward lines but his def pairings well. I know he gets his rocks off and probably gets a boner while doing it, but how in the world do you build any consistency and chemistry when you have new linemates or a new D partner every freaking shift? Just becauwe we won three games in a row doesn't make Blashill a genius nor give me a reason to keep him around.
The score was closer than the game ever was... we got totally outplayed and beaten by another backup goalie. That is all.

Totally agree with that. its Blashill way of being ...relevant ! You play 11-7 their is no way your lines juggling can look bad.. smart Blashill...

I'll play center if I can wear Pavels old number and yeah...make it beer boy Chris Larkin didn't look right at all, guess when you gaff with the netminder and get behind 12 seconds into the game is hard to overcome, no communication between Larkin and Bernier there. The score wasn't an indication that the game was close..it wasn't. They dominated us for about 50 minutes but we still were in it and to me that is a good sign. Time to get another winning streak going,

Edmonton were by far the better team. If this is the real Wings then we are in for a long season. I'll still wait until Christmas to see where the team stands but if they are not in the race then I am in favour of trading guys like Nyquist or any other player where the team gets young talent or good picks in return.
As a side note if any of you follow the Detroit Lions they traded their best wide receiver (Golden Tate) who is 30 and in a contract year for a 3rd round pick. They won't pay the type of money he is asking so they looked at the long term. The current GM is the guy who helped build the New England patriots. Wings have to think this way and look to build a championship team and not just a playoff team who loses in the first round.
Another side note, during the game the Canadian broadcast team that I watched hinted at Yzerman being the next Wing's GM. Let's keep up that discussion and hopefully it happens.

They were nowhere to be seen on that play..

Yep...aside form that Berneir shouldn't have hesitated but you are right...the defenseman is used to that and communicating with the goaltender where the hell was one of them?
