From NHL dot com
Detroit has gotten good goaltending from Jimmy Howard, who is 7-6-3 with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in 17 games. He's allowed two goals or fewer in six of his past seven starts.
Jimmy is in his final year and is 35 or around that age. A veteran goalie could be helpful to a playoff team. We don't know how the Wings will pan out as yet. They started slow and have come on of late but they are still closer to last place than to a playoff position. No trade will happen before the new year but if the Wings have not made the push to get into a playoff spot as of January then end it with Howard and get a draft choice out of it. No way should the Wings be paying him 5 million a year with all the UFA's coming out in the next year or two.
Just my opinion.
On other stuff. Great to see Mantha start scoring with his shot. That's a real step forward for him.

the thing the Blues is that they want to act now...they still think they can save their season. I think tonight they will have a good look at him…
If it's the howard that started the last game that is in goal tonight ...Howard will stay with us !!

Howard is playing fairly well. If they want him and we can get a player and high draft prospect I'd trade him. I'm not a fan of his salary currently and he's in a contract year -- I fear the repeated KH tendency to overpay in dollar an years. If St. Louis is willing to give some assets for a potential rental I'd be fine with the deal really.
