Only 3 players showed up...Howard, Frk and Megan participated in an optional morning skate so i presume Bernier is in tonight...

Don't miss the start. Someone is going to attempt to make Kronwall pay for his hit on Lee last week. Was not a dirty hit but in the NHL nowadays a hard hit is usually responded to soon. Stupid really. If Lee had his head up he avoids the brunt of it.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. That first period is evidence. FOUR SOG and winning 2-1? Bernier played well to save them too. With a gun to my head now I would have to say the Isles will prevail. Hope to be wrong!

Only took six consecutive PPs for them to tie it!

too many penalties, the refs were in love with blue, that last roughing call on AA at the end was hilarious...no way to get a PP. Refs were bad..again. We got outplayed Don't need to tell you that, and the fact that we got a point out of this one is a gift from the Hockey Gods. It would be fun to see Cholo on PK sometimes as we got pinned in our zone most of the PK.. Cholo maybe not be great defensively but he is still our best defense and he should be on the ice for all situations.
Bernier was great..Don't need to tell you that, at one point it was 45-14 shots on net for the Iles !
But overall our zone look like interstate 94, they were coming in with speed and untouched all night long. Phisycality was missing in action.
But its a point. Without Mo and Green this offensive line-up is very slim...so for the rest of this season if Nothing change let's not expect too much.

We did not deserve a point but that is how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Bernier looked pretty good. Yes there were some BS penalties, always are but most of those were a team not engaged for battle.
I don't know why a coach would have his teams top goal scorers warming the bench during the parity point battle called the shootout. No Larkin, No AA. I was expecting to see Blashill go to Jimmy Howard as a shooter in the shootout.
I agree with Pierre on the assessment of our team. We're mediocre at best, we'll have spurts of greatness and spurts of stinkers but we're just a 500 hockey team. Let's still focus on winning but make an effort in using younger guys and get them ready for the future here and parking guys who are declining or won't be in the future.

As you said, Shawn, the Wings are at best a .500 team. Soon came back to their old lazy uninspired play after a month of somewhat better hockey.
That's what happens when you have no system and only the young guys are playing with any sense of inspiration and desperation. The old guard seem to be just going through the motions far too often,

So far the team has exceeded the expectations of most. They were predicted, along with Ottawa, to be the worst of the NHL. As of today LA,CHIC,PHILLY,STL,NJ,ARIZ and FLA sit behind the Wings. If they don't make the playoffs and end up around the same spot it will end up being a wasted season. Time will tell. I for one am now pulling for them to sneak in. A playoff series would be interesting at least. LGRW!

you might have an answer as soon as tonight. if we have a bounce back performance and collect 2 points then anything is possible. The rest of this month's schedule seems "takeable" !
