I always like Original 6 match-ups and enjoy playing Toronto. It reminds me of growing up and watching Toronto on Ch.9 and Detroit on Ch.50

it's funny (or maybe not )but the Leafs spanked the Panthers 6-1 night before we played them…
But you never know...right now, more and more i see a better team on the road then at home...Something i Don't like..

Well it's an original six rivalry but the teams are in two different places. The leafs are looking to be a high seed and a cup contender. The Wings are looking to get better and make some key trade deals of veterans for draft choices. I still want to see the Wings give a solid effort and not cash it in like the Panthers did against Toronto the other night. Once Florida fell behind they took the rest of the night off and lost 6-1.
Just checked the Web and the leafs hold a 289 win to 281 loss record over the wings so it's been close in general throughout the years. Leafs have 13 cups to Detroit's 11. Really would like to see the Wings pull past Toronto on that one but cups are so hard to come by with so many teams and the salary cap. Really don't want to see the Leafs get another and continue to suffer as a fan base.
So, just enjoy the game and everyone have a good Christmas season.

I must admit I wasn't expecting much from this game. Toronto outguns us by a fair margin even when we have a full roster. Then to top it off we're missing Mantha, AA, Green & Dekeyser....I didn't think we had much of a chance. But it still really stings when Kronner has possession of the puck with less than 10 seconds left and instead of flipping it high, or even icing it, he shoots it directly to their point man who sends it right back at our net and they score with 7.6 left. Definitely hurts. Then Bernier lets in an uber softie in OT to complete the meltdown. This is going to bother me for a while. On a positive note, it's hard to believe we outplayed them for large portions of the game with a roster full of 3rd and 4th line players. We pretty much controlled Matthews and Marner who have been lighting it up virtually every game, so we must have been doing something right.

Yes it was Kronner with the gaff at the end. He would have been better to flip it over the boards and take the penalty. Get fresh guys on the ice, win the faceoff and sit on the puck. Alas, it was not meant to be despite the decent effort overall and good for Ehn getting his first goal in the NHL.
Some other things that I noticed. Hronek looked pretty good and Cholo was steady again. Great to know that the Wings have two decent young defencemen. Still learning but they look like keepers. The second thing was I liked how Bert Jr went after Kadri when Toronto scored the OT winner. The puck was in the net and Kadri had to hit it again and Bert Jr let him know that he didn't like that. Bert Jr may never be a top six forward but he's a good guy to have in the lineup in case things get chippy.

I just watched the highlights and perhaps I was being a little too hard on Kronwall. Tavares was pressuring him pretty hard, so he didn't really have the option of going high up the middle....but he should have got more on his shot off the boards instead of just handing it to their d-man on a pillow. It's a fast game they and they were forechecking us hard for the last 3 minutes. It's hard to believe that they had their goalie pulled for almost the entire last 3 minutes and we never had enough possesiuon in all that time to take a crack at the empty net. They weren't getting any good chances either but they were certainly winning all the puck battles along the boards.

Overall just a wonderful performance tonight by the whole crew..except the coach. We played hard, speed and intensity was there and we deserve better. Of course when our beloved coach played Daley and Kronwall in the dying seconds of the game and keep Cholo on the Bench then we got what we deserve. Kronwall turnover was a total disgrace coming from a veteran like him. With just a few seconds he had the puck on his stick with nobody around, all he had to do was to keep it..but nooo he panicked and gave it away. Shame on him. Cholo should have been on the ice the last minute. Blashill Don't want to admit it but Cholo is our best...
And in OT such a terrible goal given up by Bernier. By the way Cholo didnt play in OT, Bert was on the ice OT witch was a coaching mistake again. Overall Blashill was bad tonight ...very bad.
But hey..its a point. We have a depleted line-up and with a full line-up this team will win games...

Blashill is a total f*ckup and I cannot wait until that guy is in the unemployment line after this season. I don't understand his hockey philosophy and mos of his in-game decisions are totally and completely idiotic. He makes the same clueless mvoes game after game after game. Isn't doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result the definition of insanity? Fire his butt already... unless the idea is to demoralize the youth, teach them bad habits, and tank for a high draft position. If that's the case then he's your man.
Edit: Pierre, I noticed your post about Cholowski. Blashill has been chopping away at his minutes for the last 2 weeks. He's giving those minutes to the three -headed monster of Ericsson, Kronwall and Daley. #21 is our best d-man but he's been getting screwed out of minutes for reasons unknown to me. Blashill's treatment of our young guys baffles me. If we needed a coach to confuse , demotivate and totally frustrate our young kids this is the right coach. He's pissed off all of them so far- even if the kids won't admit it. Mantha nad AA surely must be counting the days until Blash gets canned. I am convinced that The bald dunderhead is the reason Datsyuk left the team when he did. Blashill needs to go the F away.

We lost 5-4 and Abdelkader was a -4.
2 goal lead blown,
Regain lead, choke it, lose in OT.
We played well enough to win and that was incouraging but damn disappointing in the end.

Blaming Blas is laughable! Like blaming a football coach when the kicker misses a chip shot. This one is all on Kronwall! 10 seconds to go and all he had to do was freeze it, play it up the boards or fall on it! BUT NOOOOOOO...he has to center the puck. Totally ridiculous play and also laughable. Had a lot of family over that never watch hockey. Thankfully they had no clue how terrible of a play that was. Even Kronwall hung his head while on his knees behind the net. Rightly so! PITIFUL! Merry Christmas!
