NOT !!
partially taken from The Winnipeg Sun
THE BIG MATCHUP
Jacob Trouba vs Dylan Larkin
It’s a battle of University of Michigan Wolverines alumni, as one half of the Jets shutdown pairing looks to try and minimize the production of the Red Wings top scorer, who has 18 goals and 41 points in 45 games. Trouba recorded five points during his two prior home games, so he’s doing much more than just check this season.
Impressive rookie
The Red Wings feature a smooth-skating rookie defenceman in 2017 first-rounder Dennis Cholowski. Cholowski is among the rookie leaders on the back end with six goals and 15 points in 43 games while averaging nearly 19 minutes of ice time per game. The Red Wings should also get a boost with the return of Mike Green, who is back after missing 13 games with a foot injury. The Red Wings went 2-8-3 without Green in the lineup and he has 16 points in 23 games.
Injuries
Jets: D Dustin Byfuglien (ankle, IR), LW Nikolaj Ehlers (upper body, IR)
Red Wings: D Dan DeKeyser (hand, IR), D Trevor Daley (foot, IR), LW Michael Rasmussen (lower body, day-to-day), LW Evgeni Svechnikov (knee, IR

Mike Green has played pretty darn good for us before the foot injury. Good to seen him back. Lottery watch: Detroit in 29th place of 31 teams. www.espn.com/nhl/standings/_/group/league. I'm perfectly fine losing just as long as we put for a good effort. There are no guarantees you'll get the # overall but at least finishing last increase your odds a bit.

Well, cough, I'll await Shawn's, ahem, commentary regarding the first period.
Jeebers .....

Games like tonight show that the Wings are a few players away from being a playoff type team. Jets are playing their backup and many teams are doing that now. Wings are not a big threat. Still want the team to give an effort and get some wins but make no mistake.....the Wings are sellers now.

after a performance like this one you kind of wonder if we are going to win another game this season. I mean, we did everything necessary to win, played an intense game the last 40 minutes and totally outplayed them...but couldn't beat their goalie.
Talking about AA again...i think he might be a trade bait at TDL. His game without the puck is not NHL worthy, his sloppiness cost the first Winnipeg goal, and on some occasion he was sloppy has hell. Of course late in the game when we were buzzing around their net he had to be more intense...he had no choice everybody was..
Anyway ..i'd love to say we can build on a performance like this...but i Don't think so, a game last 60 minutes...and that pathetic first period was part of the game...the Jets knew it !

AA can put the puck in the net. Being in his mid-20s or so he is no longer a young player BUT he can turn his game more into a two way player. Would not part with ANY player in their mid-20s who can put the puck in the net(Tatar). Am firmly now in 13s corner. Want them to lose as many games as it takes to have the least points in the NHL by seasons end. Sad but true. Hard to imagine the Wings beating ANY team 4/7. Sad but true. Will still watch(last night a BIT encouraging) but losing is the long term answer. LGRW!!!

Well, cough, I'll await Shawn's, ahem, commentary regarding the first period. Jeebers ..... add two more cardinal sin goals in period 1. First one :13 seconds, way to start a game. The second one can with 4 tenths of a second in period 1...damn. AA is a keeper for me even when floats and last night he was fairly invisible. You can coacd speed an he has it plus he has the ability to finish. You can coach him on his defensive abilities and his play without the puck.t I remember when I heard his name called it was the shift in the 3 period just before his break away I was wondering where the hell he was But the importance of his kind of lightning in a bottle is he can score at anytime. If he scored on that breakaway it would have tied the game at 3-3.

I like AA too. He scores goals - something that is often in short supply with the Wings. And he's -3 compared to Larkin's -9. And he's got 14 PIM compared to Larkin's 41 PIM. How is sitting in the box while the other team skates around with an extra player not a defensive "liability?" Just sayin' ....

Larkin plays more minutes than AA and is usually opposing the top 1 or 2 lines of other teams. The PIM's to me just show Larkin is engaged on both sides of the puck, he battles and plays hard so he'll tale more penalties.

Agree with your points Shawn but sitting in the penalty box does not help the team. I remember one Pavel Datsyuk who also played hard on both sides of the puck and hardly ever took a penalty.

Larks plays d-man minutes. Wish they would cut about five per game. Would help him and possibly the team in the long run. No sense him being a workhorse with the current team. LGRW!!!

The PIM's to me just show Larkin is engaged on both sides of the puck, he battles and plays hard so he'll tale more penalties. Larks sometimes takes dumb penalties. Needs to control his stick...sometimes it tangles in opponents skates.. and i've cool down...no way should they trade AA. We will have to learn how to deal with him, he scores goals but he will never play strong defense, in the long run it's not with this kind of player that you can win the cup… Yesterday..on so many occasions he refused to give that little extra push that Pavel use to do ...no way should i compare Pavel with ANY of our current players… Sorry..won't do it again..

Everyone contributes in a different way. AA will win us a few his way and Larks will win us a few his way. Kind a like work. It's why we form these things called teams.
