about Holland might stand pat at the trade deadline in hopes of keeping the team together for a "possible playoff run" next season. We're 2-3 seasons away at least from being a viable contender. Let's stockpile the picks and develop a pipeline of talent to keep us going forward for a decade or more.
Anyway thought I'd kick off the post all star break with a rant. I don't know anything about the game tonight except it's Friday and I have some cold beer in the fridge. Who are we playing anyway? Let's start the count down for a draft lottery pick.

Hopefully it's just a ploy. I just saw a list from TSN of the top 10 trade prospects. Nyquist and Howard were in the group. Still a lot of time left before the deadline.

It's a ploy...otherwise they'd have signed an extension...NY,Howard will be on the trading block..Howard cheap..NY only if its a decent trade, like a 3nd pick.
Back to the game..
It was a fun game to WATCH...not to hear ! First time i heard Go Leafs go right at home, first time i heard a loud scream when the Leafs scored...to me that was painfull to hear..
Other painfull things to Watch...again Cholo didnt play much, Frk didnt play much..for no Reason at all. What.are we playing for Something ? no...so no Reason to play the same players all the time. Cholo was good enough to play at least 16 minutes for the first 40 games of the season….why suddenly isnt he good enough ? Are we fighting for a playoffs spot ?? Last i look at the standings we are a little far off… Same for Frk...i'm not a Frk fan but he was dressed we Don't have anything to play so play him regularly
The problem with this coach is that he still working this team to save his own butt not for the team long term success..
Fun win anyways...AA look great tonight he was involved, Dangerous, specially in OT that why this player shouldnt be traded, he's got his problems but he puts butts in the stands...and we need butts in the stands cause tonight there was too many Blue in the building...

Yeah fun win but way too much blue in the stands. I was ready to go down there and scalp a tic and dumps some beer on those guys LOL. Anyway happily they got sent home with their tails between their legs.
New strategy for the Wings when they are up in the third and the opposition pulls their goalie. Since it's kinda automatic they will score WE pull OUR goalie to get it over with quicker thus allowing more time for us to regain the lead. Genius or what?

It was a fun game to watch. Mantha, AA, Larkin- those guys all played well and they're our core going forward. Nyquist got 2 points and continues to hold his trade value... so trade him will you Holland! Whenever Blashill plays the Wings he shortens his bench from the opening faceoff and by the third period the players are gassed and our lead evaporates. Seriously- why even dress Frk if he's going to only play 5 shifts and 3:46 ? What's the Frking point? Glad to see Cholowski in the lineup but he didn't even get 15 minutes tonight. I'm still frosted over how the kid got treated in his Vancouver homecoming. How can you embarrass a kid in font of his parnets, family and friends? For that reason alone Blashill should be fired... but there are many many more reasons to can the bumbling "Mr. Process". Hoping that Stevie Y gets the GM job this summer and brooms that bald-headed, Babcock wannabe.

Remember KH still has one more year to his contract, so next year he will still be here.. unless...he finally understand that for him, like Babcock did a few years ago, it's time to go...somewher else. Seattle would be a good fit for him. If KH still maintains his legendary stubborness...he will be around next year and SY might go to Seattle.. Who knows ? The only hope that we have is that SY lives in Detroit, and wants to be in Detroit. Because normally he would already by signed by another team.. Right now SY is waiting...he wants the Wings job...but i doubt he waits until KH's contract is done.

I'd rather have blue in the crowd than a empty seats. Its an embarrassment to still being referred to as Hockeytown...a hockey town that can't put butts in the seats for a hockey game due to the bad product called 2018-2019 Detroit Red Wings. I missed the Red Kelly jersey retirement ceremony but it was nice seeing all the old timers. I liked Mickey's interview with Scotty Bowman who still has it going on mentally and looks like he could be coaching/GM'ing today. What a great DRW era with him. I liked the game we played we had opportunities to end it in the 3rd but came up short. I like finding ways to win and this team has fared well in close games and that is good for us in the future. It was nice to get the OT winner. I thought Nyquist, AA and Larkin had it going on last night. I have a feeling that on or before February 25 that Nyquist will traded. Winning didnt help the draft lottery cause but we can make it a -4pt swing totay against Ottawa with a loss Funny I haven't heard much of Steve Yzermann since stepping down at the beginning of the season. I know one of the reasons wanted to leave was so he could be with family, wife + kids. I heard a rumor that Mrs. Yzermann still lived most of the time in Detroit insead of Tampa so maybe there were marital or family problems in Detroit, spent time back and forth between TB and DET and the rumor was the Steve was going to become co-GM here...typically when players mention family reasons for something its usually true and you don't see them return to the game within a season or 2. I'd take SY as a GM if the allow Stevie to call the shots. After all the years of success with Holland, I have zero fucks for the success he did in the past other than he responsible for where we are today... the basement of the league so I don't even want him in our organization anymore. He maybe taking blame or a fall guy to Illitch Holdings who I'm starting to fear that they are becoming the Ford's and we all know how that ownership is for the Lions...nearly invisible since 1957 si I'd be fine with an ownership too I really just want to purge the system. We're living in past and not adapting quick enough a new construction with a new foundation is better that building/updating and older foundation

Yes since Mr Is passing the Is have become the Fords where the desire to win on the ice and in between the lines is minimal at best. Makes me sick that now my Tigers/Wings are the laughing stocks of their respective leagues. Was a very entertaining/exciting game last night! Must admit I was hoping Toronto would get two in regulation just as I am pulling for the Senators tonight in what is an IMPORTANT game for both Ottawa and Detroit. This is our sports cross to carry! LGRW!!! LGDT!!!

Good points Shawn - Stevie Y's wife hasn't seen him most of her life and she's probably getting tired of it.

Guys, I'm hearing Larkin is out for the Ottawa game and he might be out for 2 weeks. Yeah - he pulled a muscle or something pretty bad last night. And "2 weeks" in Red Wings speak means probably a month. Let see how we do without him. I suspect poorly. Who gets promoted? I have my ideas.

Let's enjoy this season, hope for a win here and there .. i Don't see myself rooting for the other teams just for the sake of a POSSIBLE first round pick selection. We finish last and we are not even sure to get it so… GO WINGS GO WINGS !!!!

Beating Ottawa last night more than likely decreased their chances. The math takes some of the emotion out of it. It doesn't lie.

Its hard to root against the team I grew up watching since I was a toddler Having said that I don't feel bad if we lose today. I still want them engaged and competing hard every night...if we come up short no biggie. What you don't want is a team that gets comfortable losing or pick up bad habits, that is NOT a god thing. Players always want to WIN and most can look at our club and see that as bad as our record is we compete and haven't had many lop-sided losses. That is encouraging to me and the players who know with a couple more pieces we can compete, improve and make the playoffs. The NHL draft lottery is not a sure thing, I wish they'd go back to no lottery and the 31st team gets to pick 1st.
