Wings have been impressive of late but it won't mean a thing if they come out next year and start 2-8-1. I still want the Wings to get a high draft pick. Unless Pitt wins both games with the Wings then Detroit will have a 5th or 6th overall pick instead of a top three (pending the results of the lottery of course).
Howard looked decent tonight, Mantha gets a hat-trick and Hirose gets his first goal. Larkin has been a monster lately, a real leader. Wings are starting to play better in their defensive zone. If Cholo can get his act together in Grand Rapids then the defense will be even better.
I heard Mickey Redmond state that there are 6 good players in the draft this year. I hope he is right. If one of them is a d-man then he may end up with the Wings but it looks like Jack Hughes is going elsewhere.

wow ..what can you say. This team cannot lose anymore. At 3-2 Bruins i could not convince myself to root for the Bruins, even though we might be 26th in the league very soon..if not now !
Again the Larks-Mo-Lil Bird line was increbible. AA duo with Hirose was great...too bad they had to carry Helm in there...he was atrocious again. Same for Ehn and Frk. Those two started the game with Turgeon..it was ugly. Then Frk and Ehn played with Puempel..not better. Actually Ehn better not play another game like that...his 4th line dutie is not lock for next year...Frk is a goner that's for sure.
Jake Chelios look a lot better...suddenly i don't know about him...maybe he can surprise some next year. ! Same for Mcllrath i loved the way he went after dumb Backes. Bowey probably played his best game as Wings, fast and solid, even physical...great pickup again.
Howard made some key saves early in the third and overall played well, except on the second goal where he was too deep in his goal, i think it Debrusk's goal.
Another great performance, important because the more we play like that more the brass will understand that they have to find away to get rid of our dead woods.

I think we have found the guys who are going to be part of the future going forward. Mantha, AA, Larkin, Bert jr, Hirose. I think we're seeing some guys we will cut ties with after this year: Frk, Turgeron, Chelios. Puempel looks like he doesn't have what it takes to be an NHLer. He's killed it in the"A" but looks overmatched in the big time. It's good that were getting a chance to look at these guys late in the season like this. With GR setting their lineups for the upcoming calder cup playoffs, the big club is calling up guys who aren't major players. Guys like McIlrath, Puempel are key cogs in the GRG machine, but guys like Tugeron and Chelios aren't. We're playing the guys that the Grifs can spare. I also noticed that we brought up Kaden Fulcher to backup Howard instead of the two regular GR goalies Sateri and Rybar.

If we run the tables in our final 3 games we could find ourselves outside of the bottom 5 list of teams in the Draft lottery.
With all the injuries we have and players who've played and stepped it up the last 10 games or so should point to we have too much expensive dead weight on our roster.
