Heard about the 2 year deal about a week ago. It was just a question of when it would get done.
As for the draft pick. Wings need the Rangers to beat Ottawa. Buffalo and Jersey are toast. Wings could also catch Anaheim, Edmonton and maybe tie Vancouver. All of a sudden the Wings winning streak could make them get the 8th pick overall. Hate rooting for Pitt but the Pens may need to help out the Wings in the long run by beating them twice.

Wings up 2-1 in the third. Howard has been steady, Lil Bert with two goals and should have had the hat trick. Wings look good but it's still hard to know if teams are not taking them seriously and the young guns are up trying to play for jobs next year.

4-1 in the third for the Wings lil Bert sets a red wing record as it's his 4th straight game with at least 3 pts. Wow...a red wing record.
I see the Wings beating Pitt the next game as well. This did not look like a fluke.
Wings are missing 9 players but other than Green on defense do any of them warrant being on the team. Keep going with the young guns.

oh well what can you say..we can forget about the lottery draft...as a matter of fact we Don't need a high pick ! We are already too good !
Larks-Mo-Lil Bert is the best in the league right now..incredible.
I like hicketts back there. He is still the best when it comes to pin a player along the board, and for his size it's incredible. Same McIlrath, a little slow but good down low.
Overall it's pretty hard to understand what's going on. We lose players and we still play great.
Fun game to Watch, a lot closer than the shot clock tells us, a lot of Pens shots were from desperate areas and for the rest Howard played well again. When our D gives Howard time to move he is damn good out there.
I Believe we might have seen our last lost of the season..GO RED WINGS GO !! WE DON'T NEED THAT STUPID LOTTERY !

I don't know about you guys but I have enjoyed this team the last 10 games or so. The kids a learing how to compete and winning ways whick is much better that tanking for the lottery and picking up losing habits. We're playing some good team hockey and makes me wonder if we could sustain that type of play next season through 82 games. Another win we're still in the #5 slot with NYR one point more and a game in hand. Their last 3 games are against OTT-COL-PIT. Buffalo plays OTT and us. The fate of our lottery may come down to the end of the day Saturday April 6. I won't lie, I want want in the bottom 5. It was great to see Bertuzzi reach the 20 goal mark. We have 2 players to hit 30 and two to hit 20. Nice havin 32, 30, 24 and 21 goal scores

Edmonton 77 Anaheim 76 New York 75 Detroit 74 Buffalo 72 New Jersey 70 Los Angeles 69 Ottawa 62
NYR and Ottawa have three games left while the rest have two games.
Wings in the number 5 slot right now and I don't see them dropping any lower. Rangers need to beat Ottawa and Anaheim has to beat LA. Pitt might be better prepared to take on the Wings at home but the Wings have a lot of confidence right now. Wings will smoke Buffalo in the last game of the season at home. So best case scenario is a number 5 pick (excluding lottery changes). This pick will get the Wings a top rated defenceman or alternatively the Wings could package their first pick and a couple of 2nd and 3rd rounders to move up and grab a top three guy. I don't see Colorado wanting to trade but LA is an older team and they might want some extra picks. Hey, I'll even throw in your choice of Abby, Helm or Neilsen (:-)

Regarding possible trades. It all depends on where the Wings end up and who they want to get. How much is the first pick overall worth? Can't really say for sure.
Point is that the Wings have some options as they do have a number of picks. Nothing wrong with keeping all those picks; and it will take some time for them to get to the NHL level. But, if Jack Hughes is offered by a team like LA then I think you have to listen. Who knows what a team like LA will be asking for Hughes (assuming he's as good as they say).
Auston Matthews helped turn the Leafs around. His early success had an influence in a player like Tavares to sign with the Leafs over San Jose. Nothing wrong with considering paying a price for the top pick. Imaging Hughes on the 2nd line with AA and perhaps a Zadina or other young player. That's an impressive young top six group.
Let's wait to see how the lottery turns out. Hopefully it turns out in the Wings favour.

yep...you can go into the draft with YOUR plan but what happens before your turn can affect and alter your plan.

Been a fun couple of weeks watching the Wings and Tigers! What can you say about the Wings at times dominant display with multiple injuries? Also the Tigers iopen up the season with a seven game roadie and split in Toronto before taking the series from Pierres Yankees:) Then come back to Detroit and win their home opener today! Lets hope the Wings gain confidence and get lucky by getting better NHLers in a lower draft position. LGRW!!! LGDT!!!

I'm really surprised by the Tigers pitching the first 7...especially in NY with that potent offense, yeah they have injuries but still impressive taking 2 of 3 on the road against the NY Yankee powerhouse.
