Sure we need D but what we need more are refs that know a DIVE when they see one. Said years ago diving SHOULD be a five minute major! This assist would happen far less often. Sadly so far the refs are the story.

Lack of cohesion between our Ds and forwards was again very obvious tonight. There is no way to start a rush with speed, the pass will hit a skate, or miss the forward for an iceing, when the Ds have time to transit they just can't find anyone open but everybody is standing still..
At the moment our downfall is our transition game, no one comes into the O zone with speed...Most of the time we are trapped in our zone, no way to move the puck fast…
..and Howard wasn't particularly good tonight. That third Leaf goal was a killer. He look slow and ...old !
Overall we had our chances but cohesion in between our unit of 5 was again missing in action.

Couldn't watch the game due to family commitments. I hate losing to the Leafs and Bab-COCK.
ON another note, I just saw that Jimmy D is going to surgery soon to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor. Prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.

I fell asleep during the second intermission and missed the 3d. Poor Jimmy should know better, he gambled and lost chasing the puck outside the cage in the closing minute of the period 2..that was a back breaker really.
When good teams can shut down the top line we dont have a lot of depth on the O side of things

A couple of smelly ones and Mantha rang one off the bar. Result could have been different but in the end was pretty fair. Good news was that we shut down their 2 big lines. Matthews, Marner and Tavares were pretty much invisible out there, and that hardly ever happens. Too bad we couldn't shut down the 3rd and 4th lines:(. I agree with Shawn....not much after our first line. AA didn't do much...it would be nice if he had an offensive person to play with out there. I haven't seen much heading into last night...just watched the highlights and read the writeups. I wasn't too impressed by Bertuzzi last night...he seemed to be really fighting it out there.Despite the great stats, he doesn't look like a first liner to me. Am I being too hard on the young guy?

I wasn't too impressed by Bertuzzi last night...he seemed to be really fighting it out there.Despite the great stats, he doesn't look like a first liner to me. Am I being too hard on the young guy? -Bert has a very limited set of skills. He is a complement to Larkin and Mo's success. Bert cannot make a pass, cannot play good defense although he tries hard, He is not, overall, a very skilled players.. BUT He is a money players, everything he touches turns into gold (goals). ….So despite the fact that he is probably a third liner, to play with Mo and Larks is a blessing in the sky for him. He needs to stay there...just like the 4th line needs to stay together. Blashill has to resist the urge to make moves...just because Helmer had a couple of goals lately won't change him, he is still a fourth liner, just like Abby is. Some players need others to succeed. Abby had 23 goals one season..but he played with Dats and Z...that helps ! Same for Bert, he needs to Mo and Larks to be effective.

Give Bert credit for having the mythical..."grit"...average size but goes to the net and he seems to ..."make things happen"... Love the western roadies! Will call three out of the possible six points a success. Especially with the Oilers being on fire at 5-0-0! LGRW!!!

The size of the heart trumps the size of the body , Bertuzzi has a lot of heart and usually always puts in a strong effort
