i'm trying to be positive. Their is some talent in this team, some players that are worth a look. Players like Mantha, AA, Larkin, Schev and some others. If we are all positive this upcoming season should be fun. Surprises could be in store, like a run at the Stanley Cup.. Why not ? I'll will be a the Jo...euh little Ceasar thing october 22 and 24th for a couple of games, no matter what happens before that. Go Wings Go....

I expect them to do better than last year. It may not be good enough to make the playoffs but if we put more responsibility on young guys we'll see what they can do and you never know what can happen. We're in rebuild mode so lighten the load off of the older vets like Hank, Kronwall, Nielsen and Green and let the younger guys take over. Let Larkin, Mantha and AA make mistakes to learn. Consider Tatar Sauce and Nyquil go to guys use Abby and Helm a lot less. If Sheahan goes 10 games without a goal send him to GR and let someone who can score come up. I'd like to see us take more risks and quit playing it so safe when we're to defensively sound anyway. When I look back at last season and Sheahan not scoring and used because he has a big body as a shut down guy it makes me wonder who is missing an opportunity..we kept playing him and playing him and he failed to score a -29 so he wasn't doing anything but taking up space and preventing someone from playing.
If we continue as we did last season by first week in November it will be hard to remain positive as I already want Blashil fired so he has a short rope

Expecting not a contender, for sure, competitive at most. Interested but not excited.
Not expecting coaching or mgt. to change, will still look to the vets. Coach will still be popgun. GM still sleeping at the wheel. Owner status quo. No significant moves or changes.
Expect Z will not play as much or be as good as last season due to age.
Expecting a better year from Dylie and hoping Mgt. will play AA and AM the full season.
Do not expect more from Neilson, Abby, Glen , Helm, Nike, or Tatar. Do expect more from Sheahan (ha ha).
Expect better D but not better than average, no stud No.1 or No.2.
Expect good inconsistent goalie play.
The new arena will add some glitz but not guts.
Expect a .500 team for next few years until something forces necessary changes.

you picked a helluv a time to go to Disney World I had a buddy who fled from Tampa to Orlando and his hotel was getting pounded pretty good last night. I hope you safe. My mom and dad left Fort Pierce early and riding it out up in Georgia....they got lucky, they're about 4-5 miles from the Atlantic and they house would have been wiped out with 140 MPH winds.

Yesterday my hotel got rocked like you couldnt believer by Irma and a bunch of tornadoes that decided to join the party late last night. That was not expected. Right now we are out of power...pretty boring to be on the road without power. So whats up with the Wings prospect camp ??

I expect a worse record than last year and complete collapse. They know they will sell tickets because of the new arena so they don't care about putting a halfway decent product on the ice. Kronwall retires mid-season due to knee problems. Helm gets broken in half by some bruiser tired of him buzzing around and none of the Wings come to Helm's defense. Helm gets sick of it pretends to have a back injury for the remainder of the season. Howard does well in net, but misses a third of the season due to four different niggling injuries. Mrazek cracks under the pressure of trying to be the #1 and ends up on waivers. We go into the off season tied with the Golden Knights for least points in the league. After the 2018 draft and no major off season moves, Holland, who likes his team, relaxes knowing he "kicked some tires" but no one wanted to trade with him so que sera, sera.
What's the definition of insane? Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

My expectations? After three dismal pre-season games I think it is a return to the Dead Wings era. The situation is similar, too. Good players have left the team and a new smarter than sh*t coach gets hired to solve all the problems. Substitute Jeff Blashill for Ned Harkness and you've got the Dead Wings v2.0
Back in the day the Wings wouldn't admit their mistake and not only kept Harkness but bumped him up to GM. Then he proceeded to dump the good players and get little tin soldiers that would do exactly as he dictated. Remember how they traded Garry Unger because he had long hair? Yeah... stupid moves like that. That f-er Harkness thought he had everything figured out. Sadly I see the same stuff from the Holland/Blashill combo. Holland is being a stubborn ass and not admitting that he f-ed up by hiring Blashill as coach. The team needed new ideas and instead got a Babcock 2.0- only a watered down version. One that had zero experience in the big time. Now Holland is sticking with him- in spite of the downward trend of nearly every player just to try and prove himself right.
We're going to suck- suck- suck this year. S-U-C-K... suck. WE might even finish with the worst record in the NHL. We'll see the bald-headed boob behind the bench for the whole season. Getting to laugh at him making faces at the scoreboard will probably be our only entertainment. This team has never bought into his system and has tuned him out.
I fear it is going to be a long and painful next decade of wings hockey. We've got a brand new Cadillac of an arena and we're filling it with a cow manure of a team. "Failin' for Dahlin" has replaced LGRW as my motto.

Winging it in Motown confirms with sources in the Detroit organization that there is a “deal in place” to send Sheahan to Pittsburgh...

Fun - - I don't know about fun, but I'm glad a new season is upon us.
Surprises - - - I hope so.
Playoffs - - not likely, but regardless, I'm ready for the WingedWheel to hit the ice in their new arena!!!!!!!!!!

i think the team doesn't need a whole lot to be in the playoffs. Just a good season from Mantha, Larks and Mrazek...and the return of AA.
If Mrazek can play like he can, if Mantha and Larks score from 20 to 25 goals i think we can surprise a lot of so called hockey experts.
My concern is on defense that's why a good showing from Mrazek is a must... and i'm not talking about Howard, i don't expect much from him as i don't believe his body can go through a whole season without breaking down.
