If Kenny makes some reasonably bold moves and the team still sucks after 20 I see Blash as being gone.

Guys, it seems that Miller will not be re-signed. It's a year too late but I guess better late than never. I would like to think this is one small step toward revamping a roster that needs much more in the way of grit, defence, and competitiveness.
In watching the playoff games, I see tons of intensity and tons of hitting but not whole lot of finesse, except for occasional flashes of brilliance. The Wings have to learn a lot different style and the current cast seems incapable of the crash and bang style many teams are employing in these early rounds..

A lot of that could really be just the difference between regular season hockey and playoff hockey. However intensity is an element that we need to work on here...especially in game preparation and sustaining the intensity for full 20 minutes of a period. We start and end flat as a board as we get scored on in opening/closing minutes of games and periods seemingly on a fairly regular basis.
Some pretty tight defensive games...Toronto OT yesterday was awesome

Getting scored on early and late is a trademark of this team and it's been a problem for the past 3-4 years but especially in the past two seasons of Blashitis.

There's not a lot of choices headed to the UFA market. No drew Miller means not spending a mill cap hit on a grinder. It doesn't mean Holland will film the minutes internally as he signed too many UFA last summer because he chose not to trust the kids.
The best UFA fit the tough, hard to play against area that's lacking. There are unfortunately no sure defense fixes if you don't land Shattenkirk though.
That means any instant improvement has to be a trade. The media can cut the shit already about how that automatically means Holland will have to trade Larkin and Mantha. It doesn't. There's an expansion draft where 30 teams stand to lose at least 1 significant piece eachX. That's an environment that's bound to breed some trading partners with the draft picks and prospects is coming into
