humm...i don't see any hopes for this one too..
Pittsburgh has been doing all right since our rivalry with them...it is not the case for us. Of course, when you have a core like Malkin-Crosby-LeTang etc..its always nice...but, even if most of us hate the Penguins they have been great for quite sometimes now.

Meanwhile we have Larkin, Mantha and Hronek. Anybody see this as the core of the next cup winner in Detroit?

Not really fair to compare those three with the Pens who had two first round picks in back to back years with the lottery picks. Larkin, Mantha and Hronek are decent players but none are superstars. Wings need to get a top two pick this year and the have a decent chance of getting one of the top two players. They can't do worse than number 4 but that's still a drop off from the top two.
By the way, getting a top pick is no guarantee of a quick turnaround. How has the kid in Jersey done this year and what about Kappo Kakko in New York. Neither of these guys are world beaters yet so they need time. Wings fans have to be patient but at the same time we need to see the right things being done. Number one: DO NOT RESIGN JIMMY 5 GOAL HOWARD. Number two: Trade any vets that you can and then at least buy our one or two of them at the end of this year. Number three: If you sign any other FA vets then only do so for one or two years maximum. No long term deals. Number four: Do not give up any draft choices in the next three years. Need to have a base of players to work with. Yzerman has a plan and I hope that it includes some of the things I listed. Trust in Stevie Y.
