Will the Wings crack 20 wins this season ?
Should Arby's offer free curly fries if the Wings score more than one goal?
What do you guys think?

Only the true fans are hanging around this late in this lost season. I keep hoping that some kid will get signed or called up and make a big splash to give me something to look forward to next season- Hirose did last year. I don't think they get 20 wins. I think we'll be lucky to get two more wins before it's over. It would be great to think it's all been worth it and get the #1 overall pick in the draft. It's been a tough, tough year to be a Wings fan. My wife doesn't ask me IF they won anymore... but how bad did they lose. I think we'll have maybe 2-3 more awful years of this- but I really hope this is as bad as it gets.

I am convinced the Wings will not contend for the Cup again in my lifetime. They may make the playoffs in five years or so but they need MANY good players just to get there. Think my Tigers will need even longer. Sports just aren't as fun anymore. If not for fantasy/gambling I wouldn't watch any of it. Sad but true! LGRW!!! LGDT!!!

I'm a hardcore fan...everybody here know that..
But i'm currently being challenged..
this is the all time worst results i have to witness, worst than the 70s...
Why ?...because we have more talent, than the 70s when our best player was Bart Crashley. But looking at this line-up and what results we have with it..leaves me puzzled...
Like the last few minutes of our last game. We have a PP, our best players are on the ice, Larks-MO-Bert Fabbri and Hronek.
...during that 2 mins of PP they look like shit..., no plan, no preparation , no intensity to get the equalizer..whose to blame ?...lack of talent ? i don't think so.
so ?

The blame always falls at the feet of the head coach-it's the nature of the business. Every other team would have fired Blashill halfway through LAST season. The only way things change is by brooming Blashill from the HC job.

Was Bart Crashley the best player in the 70s or was it Bill Hogaboam?
Back to original question in the thread. The answer is that is doesn't matter if they get 5 more wins or 0 more wins. This team is bad and has to be rebuilt. Salary cap is a big issue and this is where Yzerman will earn his worth. Teams with cap issues have to get rid of guys and Yzerman should be a position to scoop up a decent player here and there. Couple this with good drafting then the Wings will have a team again.
BUT...….it will take time and there is no short cut. Teams don't feel sorry for the Wings as they won 4 cups in 20 years at one point and teams like the Leafs have not won since 1967.
There is only one decent line on this team and Yzerman needs to get a decent second line to take some pressure off the main unit of Larkin- Mantha -Bertuzzi. This year is a write off and the only thing to look forward to is the draft. Hopefully the hockey gods give the Wings at least a top two pick.
I like the fact that Yzerman is not going to bring up Seider (1st round 18 year old defenceman) from Grand Rapids if the team stays in the playoff hunt. The team has to build depth and a winning attitude. Getting into the playoffs in the minors is a start. The Leafs are a playoff team now in part due to the draft but also because they started to win in their minor league team.
I don't see the Wings making the playoffs next year but I do expect a number of changes resulting in a better team. Howard - gone Big E - gone Trevor Daley - gone Buy out of either Abby, Helm or Neisen.
Do they 4 changes and the Wings will be more competitive.

Hello all. This has been a horrible year for me.....but I still love the Wings. I still live in Florida, cannot believe it was all so long ago. I was young then. Just recently lost my husband, in a drowning accident. Thanks, Pierre, your email was just what I needed. Go Wings. LOL.

well at least there we got some decent effort..except on the only Hawks goal..just look at Mo on that play. Went behind the net and fell asleep there..leaving two Hawks wide open ...overall Mo's effort was all right, but he is just not a relentless player, it is not in his nature. Too bad it is just the step he needs to take to become a very good player. Larks can do that, give an extra push when needed, same for Lil Bert.
I believe we got our goalie for next season. Since again next season we will PROBABLY not be playoffs contender, we could probably keep a young goalie as Bernier's backup and let him learn from the vet.
Need a few more points to finish the season not being the worst in the Wings' history.
