Yeah, I hate this league in it's current state. You have to "hit the lottery" to succeed. Whatever happened to management prowess being rewarded? I lean left but I'm a capitalist at heart. This seems like sports socialism to me.

Fabbri is a good signing even though I don't believe he'll ever be a top six forward. He's better than Neilsen and Abbey and he might end up being a solid 3rd line centre down the road. Two years is enough time to see how he develops and the Wings need the time to get more NHL level players on the roster by the draft, free agency or trade.
Anybody watching the Boston \ T.Bay game series. Last night was an incredible game that T-bay won in OT and they are playing without Stamkos. I presume Stevie Y is watching that series closely as T-Bay has salary cap issues and maybe the Wings scoop up something. The Wings are not close to either of those teams right now. Great series to watch.
The Wings will get a decent player in the draft. Probably a d-man and that's fine. What I really want is to see a decent goalie addition. Bernier is not a 60 game player. He needs to split the games. Halak is the backup goalie for Boston and he's playing as Rask left the team to be with his family. Halak, if the price is right, would be a decent pickup.

Halak would certainly be a decent pick-up..but there is plenty of other goalies that will become available after this season. Guy like Markstrom of Vancouver is goalie i like a lot...and he is the Nucks starter, how come they haven't lock him up yet ?

Markstrom would be a great pickup but HNIC team suggested that the Canucks will make it him a priority. Halak got pulled last night but it looked more like T-bay was taking over rather than horrible goaltending. Wonder how T-bay would do if Stamkos was healthy?

than there is Lehner...if SY wants a decent goalie as a backup he can sure find one..They say Holtby could be available too, Jake Allen etc....
