The team has structure and good goaltending. Not enough offense and opponents always out chance them in the end. Too much pressure on the goalies to keep everything out. I hope the Wings resign Bernier but if he gets traded at the deadline they should get something decent in return.

I don't agree with "we have structure" comment..we are a mess. There is no system on this team, defense or offense it's the same, most of our outburst are individuals...pushing the puck ahead and hope for the best.
The effort was decent but not a "off the wall" effort, something we dearly need.
And that Hawks goalie is very very good...too bad we didnt draft that kind of goalie, although Bernier was very good..he is not the future in net for us.
It seems that this team is snake bitten, no way to win, no way to score...you can come close but don't worry it aint going to go in.
Right now this is what it is...SY has decided that this team is not good enough to need a new coach. If we would show just a slight bit of improvment Blashill will be gone..
OR
SY is not convinced. Not convinced that if he makes a coaching change it will help the team in the long run, cause that's the only that matters for SY ...the future !
In the meantime we, as fans, are suffering like hell..waiting for something to cheer about.
Its been 5 years...5 years that this coaching staff is there, 5 years without much improvment. Yet all the coaching staff is still there.
Are you guys really sure that this the right move ? I mean..come on, talent wise we are not up there, but do you think the Hawks are soooo talented ?? Yet they are playing great hockey, fast, organized and intense. But beside Keith and Kane and bet you cannot name too many of the rest.
Eventually SY will have to make a change somewhere, plenty of teams are rebuilding..but very few look bad last us...like forever.

It was a hard fought battle. There were moments where Chi made us look like a pee wee team but I thought the Wings carried the play through some stretches of the game. We can fight hard and have puck possession but we can't seem to make plays that make the goalie move and we don't have a consistent net front guy without Bertuzzi in the line up.
And what's up with Zadina blasting away from the circle during the PP? Does he think he's Ovechkin or something? Has he EVER scored a goal from that position with the slapper?
We just don't have ANYONE that can put the puck in the net. Just a bunch of third line guys that get first line playing minutes. So here's the question of the hour - are the guys we are "re-building" around really a bunch of chumps? Larkin, Mantha et al? Or is coaching really a big issue here? It's something we need to find out soon. And the only way is to fire Blashill. If the team then still underperforms Stevie Y has some serious work to do with the roster.

The NBC guys stated that the Wings want more out of Mantha and that if that doesn't happen then a lot of teams in the league would want a guy of his size with his shot. Mantha should be a sniper but much like Kessel with the Leafs a few years back, maybe he's better suited in another uniform. Time will tell if he reaches his full potential with the Wings but Yzerman has traded quality players in the past if they don't mesh with his vision.

Yeah, I'd bet Mantha is on his last legs in Detroit. So there goes about 1/3 of the "young core" we are "building around." LOL What did they say about Kane last night? 11 points in 7 games or something? He's not even the captain. Our captain hasn't scored a goal in 8 games. That's 10 percent of a regular season. We have no one who can get hot, dominate and carry this team for any period of time. I remember the day when Dan Cleary (yes, fucking Dan Cleary) would get hot and carry us for stretches. Those were the days …..

OK - some math - sorry to go there.
Nobody on our team has better than .5 pts/gp this season (except Bertuzzi, who is not playing)
Looking at NHL.com, if you have about .5 pts/gp you are about 250th in the league. So 250 guys are better than you.
There's 31 teams. That means that on average EVERY team in the league potentially has 8 guys better than our best guys.
Conclusion: It ain't the coaching - maybe it's just the horses in the stable.

Spot on with your conclusion Chris. Talent wins with almost any coaching. Firing Blas et all will do NOTHING to improve the team. The Captain knows this to be true thus Blas is still behind the bench. The ONLY way to bring another great team to Detroit is by acquiring talent. So sayeth the master of the obvious. Its up to 19 to get it. Sadly my guess is he will continue to fail. As would most if not all others. As posted before all here will probably be dead before the Wings or Tigers are champs again! LGRW!!! LGDT!!! BTW...heading up to Muskegon Monday to bury one of my best friends...Ron Faino...gone at 59...RIP!

Sometimes the jockey on the horse can make it better ?...yeah..stats aren't too good, but maybe a better guidance, better leaders, better strategy, but tactics...and oops suddenly stats are better. I wonder what Trotz could do with our "stable" I'd like to remind you dear friends that before Trotz arrived in NY, the islanders werent better than us... If its not the coach how come NOBODY has shine in the last 5 years ? coincidentally the same group of coach has been in there for that period of time. We have talents but according to my great great great buddy Chris that talent is shit. Shit for 5 years ?....really ?...Could it be possible ...just a bit possible that the guys behind the bench have no clue on how to get them going ? huumm.. ?

I lean both ways on this. But I'm starting to side more with the position Dick has espoused all along. Maybe our "young core" just isn't that good?
On the other hand look at Bobby Ryan. The guy started out hot as a firecracker. Now he's been in our "system" a couple months and he can't put the puck into an open garage door. Makes me wonder. It is possible for bad coaches/managers to get bad work out of good people.

Are we suppose to go through another season like this ? Without seeing any attempt at trying to improve things ...for the fans ? Man..its brutal to be a Wings fan at the moment..and you guys know i'm a hardcore one..
