Lets see how long those lines last since Blashill said he's done tinkerings. I tell you what...I'd hate to be Nielsen and Frk. I do like the thought AA-Larkin-Mantha, that is stacked with speed and skill. I generally like rolling 4 lines but we're not deep enough and need to shorten the bench when we're in a close game, whether winning to retain the lead or losing, if its close some people shouldn't be seeing much ice in the 3rd period. We're playing a team we're on par with so maybe we snap the 6 game losing streak

How are you, Shawn? I see only that one line, LAM, with any real scoring potential,as Z is anchoring two lightweights right now. Nielsen is struggling with his line mates too so I see very little potential there. I saw some minor potential in some of the fourth line guys as crashers and bangers but in limited ice time.
The team is playing structureless, dispirited hockey and are clearly not energized. They look like a team that knows it is going to lose every time they step onto the ice. There is no puck possession strategy and no cohesive attack, no intensity in their forecheck, and they spend most of the night chasing the puck. All of these are the ingredients of losing hockey.
While talent level is a factor, the coaching is the biggest factor in all of that. He has caused a regression in every part of their game . I really have to wonder what they actually practice because I see nothing showing up in games that would lead me to believe our guys know what they are doing.

I’m doing well Newfie, I hope all is well for you and yours...good to see you posting.
I agree on the coaching. No excuse for lack of hard work reagardless of talent. We’re just not paying attention to details and often times seem disinterested in hockey...imagine that. I’m no fan of Blashill and would love to see him shitcanned. I wonder how many games we’ll lose before Chris Illitch will fire him? Kenny Holland too...the time is behind him and he no longer can live on past successes.

Doing well. Still living in the Far North but got out for a trip home and then down to Detroit to see the game against the Caps. Lots of empty seats in the lower section where we sat. The arena is quite an upgrade from the Joe but I still liked the old barn.
Team was playing a lot better just week ago but seem totally discouraged now. Really can't figure out what's going on there. I wonder if there are dressing room issues as well.
A lot of the turnovers were obvious in the Caps game and the passing skills have continued to deteriorate but one of the biggest issues for me was the lack of cohesiveness on the attack and players not engaging physically or mentally. They did have more quality chances in that game though than I have seen in the last 3 games combined.

2:00 of a 5 on 3 and Z’s unit wasted almost the entire 2 minutes. I’d like to see Larkin, Mantha and AA as the top PPU

How many times will 52-83 pairing get scored on until coaches will realize it’s not a good pairing.

The more mistakes Big E made, the more often he got sent back out. The D pairings are not good at all, and both Kronwall and Big E slow them down in their own end. Removing both from this team would be a net improvement, because their time is over.
The win tonight was mostly due to Jimmy and I have to give him credit for being the best and most consistent I have ever seen him. However, i think PM should have started against Tampa, given that Jimmy was coming off 2 straight losses, albeit the fault of the team in front of him.

i didnot see the game. First in a few years. Cause i cancel my NHLCI subscription. You can find the game on the net for free if you search properly...
BUT
You cant tape the game on the net if you have friends at your house that don't care for hockey..so you missed the game and i don't like it...
SO
I'm back with NHLCI...i can Watch the game late, or with some delay or whatever.
I hate to miss a game.
Now, having said that and after watching the replay i think Howard was thereason why we won this one. The shot clock said 46 shots..wow
AA scored...so i presume it was a good game...right ?

Howard was the reason we got points and snapped the losing streak at 6. I haven't checked the stats but FL had plenty of quality scoring chances but Howard shut the door. AA's goal was a nice forecheck by Mantha, force a turnover, Larkint to AA on a one timer. The are best thing of the night. We had trouble getting out of our zone as into Florida's, we had turnovers and blown coverages. We had a full 2 minutes of a 5 on 3 and couldn't score. I was disappointed in Blashill leaving PPU 1 out for just about the whole 2 minutes...maybe 25 seconds left it before they changed. If you cannot score in the first minute on a 5 on 3 you get those dudes off. Florida had a goal called off because of goaltender interference and you guessed it...the 52-83 pairing dodged another bullet as they were standing around. Daley isn't that bad of a player,,,its whoever players with Ericsson who looks bad even if they're not. We won, I didnt think we played all that well, Howard was the difference maker. It was an ugly pace of a game with penalties and center's tossed from the faceoff circles...in fact that is how we got the 5 on 3. The first faceoff of the PP Florida got tagged with a faceoff violation. Keep in mind we played Florida who are weak like us There were plenty of Red Wing fans in the barn AND empty seats...it almost looked like a home game at LCA hahah but their seats aren't bright red so you couldn't see the empties as easily

I fully concur with Shawn's analysis, Pierre. Saw the game too and it was a cluster*&k of giveaways, mistakes, and poor coverage especially when Big E was on the ice. Giving him top minutes is a pathetic display of coaching but what more needs to be said....this is Blashill at his most inept.
The team is going nowhere with this coach at the helm and a need for a new coach was a long time ago. He should have been fired last year about this time because the downward spiral had began all over again. i don't know what the answer is in terms of a replacement. TIPPET? SUTTER? Maybe RALPH KRUGER? Someone who knows how to teach players and communicate with them in ways that make sense.
Surely, developing a simple breakout system can't be that hard for NHL players to grasp and execute? Can it?

I like the goaltending and that’s really it. If this team competes, it’s goaltending. Probably Howard goaltending.
Don’t understand the point of having Scott Wilson in the lineup if he’s only going to play 5 minutes. Might as well go 7 defensemen or just waive Wilson and Witkowski both and grab a randomized prospect

Yes, Howard was the reason we won, 100%. I thought Dadonov was the best player on the ice. I guess I never saw him play before and he looked really dominant for Florida. On a second goal he outmustled much bigger E along the boards and started a play. According to Malik, E got an earful on the bench for this. As to Wilson, I really do not see anything he brings to the table. Witkovski at least manages 5 hits in his 5 minutes.
