He'll be back to day with a new D partner
Lets get a winning streak greater that 2 going today. Colorado played yesterday to and have to travel
Here are the lines they skated with on Saturday:
Gustav Nyquist-Henrik Zetterberg-Anthony Mantha
Tomas Tatar-Dylan Larkin-Justin Abdelkader
Darren Helm-Frans Nielsen-Luke Glendening
David Booth-Andreas Athanasiou-Scott Wilson
On defense:
Jonathan Ericsson-Trevor Daley
Danny DeKeyser-Mike Green
Niklas Kronwall-Nick Jensen
Xavier Ouellet-Luke Witkowski (suspended)
Blashill might opt to continue dressing 11 forwards and seven defensemen, in which case Ouellet would play Sunday and Booth, in all likelihood, would be scratched.
Jimmy Howard will make his fourth consecutive start in goal. He is 5-1-1 in his past seven appearances.

Abby in top 6. Bad Blashill is back. Seeing Abby out there late in a third period trying to hold a lead or on a late PP when we need a goal makes me want to puke. I just totally don't get what the Wings organization sees in this guy. I remember our past secondary leaders like Drapes and Chelly and that was easy to see. I just don't see what Boom Boom brings to the table. What elusive intangible am I missing?

Boom-boom actually has been playing well...another goal, he tipped Larkins shot in. I’m still not a fan of him.
I didn’t like giving up that goal with 15 seconds left in the first....cheap 5 hole from the point...keep your stick on the ice Jimmy.
Nice go ahead breakaway goal by AA.

Avs with the late goal to tie it up. OT Get AA back on.
Mackinnon with the OT winner Wings get one point. Many of Detroit's games will be like tonight. One goal affairs that could go either way. Don't think Dekeyser did too bad tonight for first night back after a long layoff. He needs to get to full form and take away some minutes from the other D-men.

What a fucking choke job, beaten by a team that sucks and played last night. We let this one slide away...there is a reason we can’t win more that 2in a row.

a stinker... Got outhustled the whole game. Lucky to escape this one with a point. Howard look like the Howard of old on a couple of goals.
Two shifts for Helm in OT none for AA. Mantha look like he didnt care, got careless early in OT and almost blew to whole deal.
Back to square one folks..

Pierre, is it that Mantha doesn't care or that he gets fed up with Blashill's antics? Don't get me wrong.....he does slack off out there sometimes.....but I can just imagine how frustrated some of the young guys feel. Especially after a game like last night and recent comments by Blashill implying that the young guys learning curve contributed to them not making the playoffs last year. Where was the criticism of Big E and other vets who made a ton of mistakes last season that led to games being lost or tied in the late stages?
Last night, AA was so fast and so smooth in getting the team up 2-1. His reward? Minimal ice time in the third period and hardly any in the last 10 minutes. He was interviewed after and you could tell he was groping for the right words to say but it was obvious that he was pissed. And so he should have been.
I hoped with the higher level of intensity in a few games lately that somehow Blashill had learned something....clearly, he has not. He lost them that game all on his own by refusing to use his full bench when they were up 3-1. You'd think that the guys he put out there had been doing really well at holding leads. Not so, most of the time. And having Kronwall out there in the last couple of minutes....that's a big mistake. He is simply too slow as were most of the others and it showed, as the Avs skated circles around them.
This guy simply cannot adjust to changing game situations....... the hallmark of a good coach. And, he is totally inept when it comes to motivating the guys to play strong defensive hockey without giving up chances in their own end.

We started looking better when Larkin-Mantha-Athanasiou were playing together. AA holds out and is promised a top 9 spot....scores more goals in 10 less games than Abby, Z, Nyquist and Tatar yet gets rewarded on the 4th line as a center with a couple of slugs...I'd be pissed too.
Just when it looks like are turning the corner we fall down again...goal given up in the closing seconds of a period, coughing up 2 goal lead, poor personnel selection late in the 3rd trying to retain a lead. Poor personnel selection in OT. A lot of that can fall on Blashills shoulders. What I hate about him is he rolls 4 lines and D parings at all points of the game. He never shortens the bench to try to get back in the game or to hold on to the lead. I'm sorry but there are certain players who should not see the ice in the last 5-10 minutes of a game, whether you're trying to keep a lead or tie it up if down by a goal.

When the game ended the Avs were buzzing around our net like crazy. Blashill answer in OT was Helm-Nielsen-Kroner. He gave one early shift to Mantha and that was it.
Under these circumstances (pressure and OT) Blashill doesn't trust the young players. What he was afraid happened...a goal against in OT. Had he ONLY played Larks-AA, Mantha-Ny with Greener and Daley alternating with might have an extra win this morning.
But nooo...Blashill HAS to sneak a shift or two to Abby, Helm and Z who are not efficient in OT.
i'll say it again ...in OT you use your best players, don't lose valuable shifts by sneaking in a player or two who doesn't belong on the ice in a critical situation like OT.
