The Detroit Red Wings host the Toronto Maple Leafs this evening and in theory, the 11-13-and-7 Red Wings are getting the 20-12-and-1 Maple Leafs at a good time. Toronto is coming off a 2-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, and the Leafs have lost 2 straight games without the services of Auston Matthews, who is probably undergoing a concussion protocol at present Normally it should be Mrazek in goal but there is never anything normal with this coaching staff so... I cant wait for the moment when this team turnS the page and favor the youth before the vets. It has to come normally, AA,Mantha, Larks MUST be on the ice on every critical situations, even if they are having a bad games and even worst floating. Right now on key situation Blashill looks at Z, Kroner, Helm first, this mentality needs to stop now NOW. more to come i presume... Go Wings ?

Well since Toronto played last night that means a high probability they we lose our 4th straight. Hank needs to play about 12-15 minutes a night, not 20 I'd like to see Neilsen between Nyquist and Tatar as line #2, then Larkin, Mantha and AA as the #1 line and first PPU. Less minutes for DeKeyser and Daley who are usually on the ice when we get scored on

The arena was so empty and quiet on Wednesday that it was scary. The saddest part of watching our team now is Z. I almost want to cry when I see what happened to our beloved captain. Besides looking slow/injured, his decision making and constant turnovers make me cringe.

Vp, Ken was saying it was because of the snow storm that there were so many empty seats but really, there always are plenty of empty seats.
You were right Pierre, Howard starts.
Lines as per Mlive
Gustav Nyquist-Henrik Zetterberg-Justin Abdelkader
Tomas Tatar-Dylan Larkin-Anthony Mantha
Darren Helm-Frans Nielsen-Luke Glendening
Andreas Athanasiou-Martin Frk
On defense:
Danny DeKeyser-Mike Green
Jonathan Ericsson-Trevor Daley
Niklas Kronwall-Nick Jensen
Luke Witkowski (seventh D)
Xavier Ouellet (scratched)
Jimmy Howard will start for the 13th time in the past 15 games.

i understand why Blashill doesn't change those lines...we score so many goals, no need to change anything...

On the bright side, quality of play by detroit has picked up. But wins are nowhere.
This will be weird if the lions are the only detroit teams in any playoffs

That was another fairly well played game.Good to see them keep a lead and win one. Howard made some pretty big saves. I didn’t like the goal he gave up but it was deflected. 3 days off now before hitting the road.

A good result. Thank GOD the D netted a couple or ...
Looks good on Mr. "Money has nothing to do with it".
A few random fire thoughts... Daley looked good tonight i thought. Mantha was usually standing still... speed won us that game (is that so hard for everyone to remember ?)... Where the Frick is FRK ? Is he hurt again or is this the start of the works from Blashill - yet another young career to F with ... I like Darren Helm ... The moment they announced that building that was going to be state of the art I said they better put in a state of the art ice plant. I grew tired of those rinks with perpetually bad ice. Again no one in the RW organization listened to me. Now we are one of those rinks... - We got lucky towards the end of the third - a lot of redirected shots - luckily we kept them all out... WE WON when the opponent played the night before ! ... Was good to see a game with a good ending for a change. I must honestly say that as this was winding down I wondered who would cough it up.
LCRW (Let's Compete Red Wings !!!)

Always good to have the Wings beat the Leafs. At least I won't have to hear about the parade route on Yonge Street for the next couple of days on the Toronto media. The Toronto station that showed the game basically acted like this is a sure win for the Leafs. Nice to see them eat their words.
Toronto did looked gassed at times. Playing last night's game hurt them and of course they played without their saviour. I'll take the win but the Wings have not turned it around IMO.
