4 weeks without Glendening?? What will we do? Damnit, I was counting on winning the Stanley Cup this year, now my dreams are smashed like Athanasiou's dream of being a top 9 forward in the NHL,

Don't know what to say about this one really, other than it was an intense performance by just about anyone except Mantha. Skills had a great say in this one, Rask really showed why he is one of the best and Howard, with very little skills he's got is doing miracles most of the time, but on the winner his lack of speed sliding across was obvious.
Can't blame Howard when we only score one goal.
One positive note; lil Bert is probably in for good know. He was good and by the TOI he got i think he's earned Blashill confidence...and he is not a vet !
Intensity was there, will to win was there but it's another lost so..what can we say more ?

Larkin should be our number one center and play 25 minutes a night. Same for AA and Mantha. Even though i'm not a fan of Mantha they are our future, and since we simply don't score its time to play the kid til they die. To see AA with only 8 min today is a disgrace. Id be the first to say that AA deserve that kind of minute but that's not the case, today AA was intense and had a good game in the first. But when a coach doesnt like you what else can you do ? AA wont be back next year that's for sure...and maybe Mantha could do a AA of himself next year by holding out on the team.

Wings have had tough times in Boston the last few years so the result was expected. Little Bert and Larkin were impressive today for the Wings. Wings do have talent but just not enough to go around.

Another decent effort, even game and we still lost. 10 points out of the playoffs, time to sell and plan for the future. Abby playing 18 minutes, AA plays 8. That should not happen ever. Need to tie the game in the last minute? Kron and Abby on the ice, Mantha and Green on the bench. On the other hand Bert plays 18 minutes basically taking Glen minutes and more. E continues to be our best dman.

We played a good road game but as the saying goes "you're not gonna win many games in which you only score one goal". I had that feeling, tied 1-1 starting the 3rd on the road, we're just accustomed to losing. I hate that myself.
It is bad enough killing penalties in this league but hey, lets make it harder, hey how about we send too many men out to kill it...the refs wont notice it....ooops the ref notice...ooops ok boys kill it, a 5-3 for 1:20....bamo they score...shit...lets go home now....what? still short handed for 1:10?...I quit

and that too many man was not on Blashill this time. They were floating to the bench for the change instead of rushing..
See i don't get it, those big hockey stars never rush to change, they kind of float toward the bench, yesterday it burned us. If i would be the coach id show them the clip of this change and the last one floating to change, i think its was Kroner but not sure.
Details !! When we can't score, détails are everything.

If you don't have enough juice in the tank to bust your ass for a line change then you already stayed out too long I have noticed the players who act like they want another shift in this league do haul butt to the bench on line changes...older vets, float it in

I see what you are saying but also you have to figure that Abby is trade bait and you want to showcase him enough so that other teams see value in him. I've said in this forum that nobody is untradeable but you have to get more in return when you are a seller. Abby , Green and some others give you experience for the playoffs and they might command a decent return. If the Wings don't turn it around soon (and I don't expect that they will) then Holland has a real opportunity here. It's tough right now following the Wings but after 25 years of success I can live with some growing pains.

No sane GM would take Abby's contract.

Only 3 pieces of trade bait on this team, AA, Mantha and Larkin. 1 or 2 of which we wont be able to afford next season. Mike Green has rental potential but we'll probably lose him for nothing and I'm fine as long as we're not paying 6 million for him. The rest of the season is "get the fuck in gear and reduce salary so we can pay Larking/Mantha and AA next season The players that we would like to trade are over priced..Tatar (6), Nyquist (5.5), Abdelkader (5), Nelisen (6), Helm (4.5), Mrazek (4.12), Howard (5) and no one wants those contracts unless they're dumping a bigger contract on us...I'm sure KH's ears are already perched up for that...he's gotten good at that the last decade or so

Yeah, Abby aka Boom Boom, I'll bet everyone is hawking that guy. With a career average of 30 pts over 82 games and a career +- of -19 I'm sure everyone is drooling over this guy, and, ahem, his contract.
