NBA has put all games on hold and might cancel the season
NHL is having games without fans in San Jose due to coronavirus.
Will the season have to be cancelled?
If my history is correct the NHL was cancelled back in 1919 due to the Spanish flu.
Italy ( 60 million people ) has effectively been put in shut down mode.
Everyone out there, please take care and do what the experts are saying.

I heard on the radio the NHL is considering following the lead of the NBA. My guess is they announce something today. With the NBA taking such a drastic move I can't see the NHL doing nothing even though the NBA had the added impetus of an infected player. If so I feel bad for the players in a playoff hunt. And I feel bad for me because I was supposed to go see the Wings in Phoenix next week with my wife. We've had it planned for almost a year.

My guess is the NHL will mimic the NBA and suspend the season. Peer pressure. Totally ridiculous! The Swine flu a decade ago saw 60 million Americans contract it. Massive death toll also. Just more politics. Ho hum. Wake me up when this too passes.

My guess is the season is a total loss and there will be no playoffs. no Stanley Cup. So the Detroit Red Wings being the worst team in the NHL was just a terrifying nightmare but we should still have the draft...all on line and no big todo with kids putting on jerseys

i heard about this stranger consideration; the best 4 teams will play a couple of semis and then the SCF... So far the NHL expect the lose over 200 millions dollars with this.
like my wife would say ..." poor millionaires "
By the way just got back from Cuba today...what a journey this week was, gradually the people left the place...and in the end we thought there would be no plane for us...thank God there was one..with full of stewardesses who really didnt want to be there.

So technically I believe the NHL season is considered "postponed." I've read some players and others float the idea of no more regular season games and a playoff season extending into late August. Anybody really see that? Sounds like the next NFL season is going to be greatly delayed and possibly no college hoops in 2020. Doesn't sound good for MLB either.
Pierre, glad you got out of Cuba. Looking forward to hearing about the adventure over a beer someday. My trip home from Arizona was uneventful. Easy to get thru security. Light plane. Looking out the window while landing in Detroit during rush hour and noticing so few cars on the road. Rather spooky. Like one of those zombie apocalypse movies or something.

. My trip home from Arizona was uneventful. Easy to get thru security. Light plane. L. Well if it was easy to get through security i can understand why the USA has become such a mess about the coronavirus.. And now the covid-19 wave is hitting Detroit... There is no life for at least 2 more months.. Stay safe Chris (and the rest of this very intimate group)...lock yourself indoor, watch old Red Wings wins (you have to go way back to find one !)...its no time to play with motherluck.. cheers...

A reminder that the NHL is willing to delay the start of next season until November in order to finish off this season if possible with summer hockey. NHL believes they can play a full season next year starting in November, cancel ASG/bye week, play playoffs into late June '21

Wy wife is still in AZ taking care of her sister so I'm living alone with 4 animals (cats). Kinda like jungle boy or something LOL. Been working from home for about a month. My company will start ramping back up beginning of May. I'll probably go back a week or two after that. Still healthy. How's everyone else doing? Anyone really think we're going to have a hockey season?

Bettman suggests a four NHL city plan to resume the season instead of the Dakotas because of the facilities. Cariolina,Edmonton and Minnesota are three of them. Dertoit,NY etc... out because of the high virus numbers. Makes sense. Also possibly a June draft. As always time will tell. Hope everyone is healthy! LGRW!!!
