As I stated above, looks like the Dynamic Duo (KH and his Puppet) will be back to inspire the performance and execution of practically the same team (knowing KH's propensity not to trade or sign any prominent FA). We, the fans, will get a repeat of the same old song-and-dance routine (including diversions of actions to cover-up their mistakes, and of placing the blame on someone else or injuries). Speaking of the often-sighted Man-Game Losses to Injuries - - - that is so much BS: Franzen and Vitale will never play another game in the NHL. Between the two, that is 164 games lost every season they are on the Roster.A short leash in store guys..very short. Let's not go nuts about it (like i'm going to ). Logically they can't replace KH now, their's a draft coming up in june and HK has all of our notes. Blashill could have been sacrificed...but again, the very short leasth will come to effect in october and if we don't have a good start their is no way Blashill will stand behind our bench at Christmas. No way.. SO Let's keep our cool, i know it ain't easy but let's trust M.I jr and KH to take the proper décisions when needed. By way M.i junior finally spoke today...a rarety, so that, in a sense, is a good news.

Nick Jensen is going to be an internal puck moving fix if you can't sign shattenkirk. Alzner will probably be kept by Washington with his used to be their shut down guy job till they got orpik and nisjanen.

Talk by anyone in the Wings' organization holds no water - - it's just a bunch of BS!!!!!!!!!!!! They want to sell tickets!!!!!!!!!!
EIGHT SEASONS OF DECLINE - - - moves last year was BS - - and the year before - - - and the year before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for solid productive moves!!!!!!!!!!!!
KH plays it safe most every year:
he doesn't make any trades which bring any meaningful player our way!!!!!!!!!!! He basically trades for draft-picks . . . an unknown!!!!!!!!!!!
he doesn't sign any meaningful FA ------------------- because they are too expensive.
he doesn't trade any players with long-term contract because he blundered in signing them to long-term contracts!!!!!!!!!!
Get real --------------KH is only covering his ASS because of all of his blunders (sort of like a number of politicians).
KH should have retired with Lids - - - the Wings would have been much better off regardless of the streak (where over 50 percent of the teams in the League make the cut).
Typically, the first round generates incremental profits for the owners, but the entertainment level for the fans is a disgrace.

Firing Blashill and kicking him down the road is what I was hoping for at the end of the season. I as also hoping Kenny would get kicked upstairs and a new GM brought in and a new coach hired. That news from Chris I was like a kick in the groin. Holland is staying and so is Blash. What can we honestly expect to happen next season? Blash will be trying to save his job and we'll be seeing heavy doses of Glendening, Ericsson, Abby and Helm... while once again he'll be "teaching our young guns a lesson" by either calling them out in the pressers or benching their asses so they can "learn". Yeah, I think blash will be coaching not to lose once again and save his job by playing the vets and not giving the kids a chance... until we're out of the playoffs again and then they'll get a chance. I'm sorry but bringing Holland and his stooge Blashill back was one colossal f*ck up. When the streak ended and we're moving into a new building, the stage was set to clean house and begin the next era of Red wing hockey domination. Instead we get Holland, Blashill and the three stooges (Freshweiller, Houda and Torchetti) back for another round of "we suck". We've got too many bad contracts, old and slow d-men and a GM who is living back in the 1990s. I just think we're in for a brutally rough ride next season. Chris I needs to step in, show some hair and clean this mess up.

100% Pierre is right. There is literally no chance of Kenny being gone before his contract expires. And honestly..... rightfully so. Say what we want about Kenny he has earned to ride out the contract. Blashill on the other hand has not earned shit. He took the same declinng roster as Babs and he turned them into bottom feeders. I can honestly not think of a single player who has excelled or gotten better under his leadership. If the wings are battling around .500 come thanksgiving he'll be gone by christmas.

i wanted to post that link..but knew someone would... It is just an opinion from a mad fan like us... I still can't believe KH was asked to step down and refused...and if it's true i don't blame KH for saying no, i blame M.I for not having the balls to fire him..

And the beat goes on . . . or should it be stated . . . as the beat goes down . . .
Over the last five years or so, Yzerman has watched, like the rest of the hockey world, as Holland has refused to change his ways—chasing aging free agents, signing his own veterans to generous long-term deals, mismanaging the cap, and trading away promising prospects and draft picks for 30-something forwards with no discernible skills outside Being A Guy With Experience—just to repeatedly squeeze into the playoffs and get bounced early. Would Yzerman even want to take over this mess? Sounds familiar.

other folks beginning to go public with similar opinions of KH as a lot of folks here have from Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News, Holland overvalued his own players, believed his core would improve with experience, and was slow to react when it didn’t happen. Because of that, he feels the heat entering the final year of his contract.... I respect the Wings’ undying desire to reach the postseason instead of scaling way back to start over. But if they’re going to pull it off, Holland must get bolder, more creative. With so many players on bloated contracts — due to Holland’s miscalculations — it’ll be difficult to make trades. That means he might have to take a risk and deal one of the promising youngsters — Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasiou — for a much-needed defenseman in a value-for-value blockbuster. Maybe KH will see this and get up off of his ass and do something other than trying to squeeze blood out of a rock (asking players incapable of stepping up their games to step up their games) and liking our team

Might take some time. Wings are good at draft and develop. Let's draft and develop a buncha guys and then we've got a deck of cards to play - or deal.

It appears as if Holland is launching his preseason diversion tactics (similar to someone else in the public eye about "fake news.")
Travel and expenses "scouting" does not cover-up for ineptness, or lack of improvement in the standings.
Regardless of the similarity of tactics, the lack of results will ultimately become evident over the next 12 months.

Well, we did end up picking worse than 7th. Odds were against getting # 1 but to sink even lower to 9 is a kick in the gut.
Not great odds for getting a substantial player. Guess it is going to be another project.

With the drop of 2 places in the draft and with 4 third round picks the Wings have some options. You can keep all the picks and get a good group of young players who will take some time OR use the 9th overall pick and maybe one of the third round picks to get an established defenseman. (and the Wings can throw in Big E as well)
If it's not a d-man who will be a top 4 guys for years to come then I say keep the picks and build from within. It's been a while since Kenny H has had some options so let's see what he comes up with.
