Anemic scoring, a turnover machine in the defensive zone and average goal tending - - consequently, the Wings demonstrate why they are in the lower third of the Eastern Conference based upon ROW. Unfortunately, until a couple of superstars (a forward and a premier d-man) come on board, the Wings will continue to struggle to make the playoffs. And if they do make the cut, it will most likely end in a one-and-done performance. In addition, the dynamic duo, Blash and KH, do not have the capabilities to get the most out of the Wings roster. Another long season of flickering surges, and prolonged winning droughts. How opinion can change fast...read your own post just november 16th... I

I didn't state that Mantha was a super star - - only that he could fill one of the missing elements - - a power forward. And also, "in the future," he may provide inspirational leadership.

Just a couple of week ago this team was flying high, just remember the flames game, and even the game we lost around that date. To me its a coaching problem. To see AA, Mantha and sometimes larkin looking clueless tells me something is wrong, and it might not be on the ice but behind the bench.

Henrique traded for Vatanen. Interesting. Devils are doing really well, but decided to still shake things up and traded a guy they drafted and who played for them for 7 years and in the middle of his 6 year deal. This tells me that the guy like Nyquist or Tatar are tradeable for a top 4 dman.

And the beat goes on . . .
The Wings have continued to deteriorate for the last 9 seasons with no sign of a turn around.
The current team under signed contract by KH win (in regulation or overtime) less than 30 percent of the time. In contrast, StevieY's team, win over 65 percent of the time.
Basically, a complete rebuild of the Wings from top to bottom needs to be launched starting with removal of KH and Blash.
A few keepers include Mantha and maybe Larkin. Other than, it is pathetic roster .

it's funny you mention Mantha. To me he is the ultimate floater. Not my kind of player. Yeah he can put the biscuit in the net but only a new coach could tell me he is the real deal.
Cause right now Under Blashill i can't stand watching him.

disappointing stats from our 2 top prospects so far down in Griffins land...
Evgeny Svechnikov RW GR 19 2 3 5 -6 Joe Hicketts D GR 24 1 4 5 -5
I don't know what's going on with Schev but those stats are troubling...

Bring Flip up hahah. I'm not a fan of having 9 million dollars wrapped up in two goaltenders who are not that great. We're gonna have some cap issues if we want to resign the 3 big RFA's (Larkin-Mantha-AA) for next season. Those 3 are going to have some nice paydays next season we we have cap tired up in bad deals. Those 3 RFA's are the only players I want to keep at the moment.

Time change, its not like we have the choice, we are not as deep as we were back in our A days. Laarsson is 19..not 14 !. Bring in to GR next season and then we will see.. Funny that nobody talks about Coreau anymore...Not too long ago we were set with the Mrazek-Coreau tandem... ...not anymore !

IM going to be honest...I can’t see Ken Holland trading away anyone this year unless there’s an unbelievable offer.
Mike Green: perhaps he’s looking as Kronwall used to donbecause he’s finally healthy? You have no one moving the puck as effectively coming through the system and the free agent market isn’t showing anyone besides him really. If you picture this team’s offense as improved with just one more guy producing at close to that in back, you’re probably seeing a few more wins at least.
Offense: there’s still the issue of too many similar guys up front. The pros are Larkin, Mantha and Athanasiou overall playing well. But minutes aren’t dropping for veterans who aren’t doing that.
They play with more confidence with Witkowski in the lineup. Bertuzzi should be helpful to carry more of that over. A better rounded lineup has one more guy like Witkowski who can give you some more minutes too

lil Bert tonight started like he did in the last game, logging interesting minutes...
than he gradually dissappeared ! ...like all the rookies have to go through Under Blashill, even if they play well.

We need a new sheriff in town who's only question is - what have you NOT done for me 20 years ago? Leys wipe off the past respect we earned...it earns nothing today. Winning matters today and we've done very little of that in recent years.
We are not the old Red Wings, an example of NHL royalty or excellence - players no longer will ever give up more money to play for Detroit because Money we can give but we cant'd win and those are the two key things players want, to play on a team that can compete for a cup, and to make money doing so..."lookie, we have a new rink" BFD, its empty most of the time unless there is a concert.
Young players won't get an opportunity up here until they are AHL super stars and flat out awesome and 30 other GM's and coaches ask why is that kid still in the AHL? and the answer is "oh, it's Detroit, its their Red Wing prospect that they won't be able to pay after becoming an RFA"
