well this board has a history that goes back to the deceased Detnews.com message board. When they closed the Detnews.com message board we all moved to hyperboards. Then Hyperboards died, so again we had to move here..but some members didnt follow so, we are still looking to find new members.
Thanks for joining !

Many here know I have been a long time staunch supporter of Holland. But unless he starts acting like a guy trying to rebuild a great team real soon I'm off the bandwagon. We need to shed some bad contracts and start banking some picks. I do believe that plays into Holland's strengths, which are picking players and developing them. At the same time as we go forward we need to bring someone in to complement Holland in the trades and free agent area. Or just dump Holland altogether. I don't care any more.

bummer trade...stuck with Howard next season. Just a 4th rounder ? I hope Mrazek stuns the hockey world in Philadelphia by sending the Flyers to the cup.... this is how i feel right now... Bad GM one day bad GM every day...

Well they get no less than a 4th round pick. If he wins 4 playoff games it goes to 3rd round, wins 6 goes to 2nd round. So on.

So it will most likely be a 3rd round pick in 2018 and if he resigns with Philly they get a 3rd rounder in 2019. Before you can fix a problem you need to know that there is a problem. Finally Holland has figured out that to build on the fly you still need to make trades. Right now, Mrazek and Howard are about the same level (even though Mrazek is younger and has more potential). Wings need an upgrade at many positions and they need depth in the organization.
I hope that this is not the last trade deal Time to soak a few teams like the way they soaked the Wings for years during their great 25 year playoff run.

for a conditional 4th round pick? OK...at least we gain $4 million in cap space. Who will be our backup? UPDATE: www.detroitsportsandentertainment.com/breaking-mrazek-traded-flyers/"The pick details are coming in. It appears Detroit is guaranteed a minimum of a 4th round pick in the 2018 draft for Mrazek. Should Mrazek win a minimum of 5 regular seasons games, which seems likely, the 2018 pick turns into a 3rd rounder. The pick would become a 2nd rounder if Mrazek can win a minimum of 6 playoff games and the Flyers were to reach the Conference Finals. As for the 2019 3rd round pick, the Red Wings will only get this pick if Philadelphia were to re-sign Mrazek next season. As it stands, it is likely the Red Wings get at least a 3rd round pick in the upcoming draft. After all, Philadelphia has 23 regular season games remaining, and Mrazek is likely to be their starter for the time being. Chances are Petr can be in the net for the five wins required to turn the 4th rounder into a 3rd. Beyond that, it is hard to tell. Anything can happen in the playoffs, so a 2018 2nd rounder is not out of the question. As for the 2019 pick, at best a re-sign is a 50-50 proposition at this point if not 30-70. $4 million is a lot, but if Mrazek were to shine, the Flyers would likely jump on the option." The better Mrazek performs the better the pick we'll get! Go Flyers and Mrazek Go!

KH got pissed at Mrazek during the contract negotiations, so Mrazek is lost now for nothing really. Oh, and Mrazek also pissed Abby last season apparently when he refused to stay after practice. Sorry, I do not see 3rd or 4th round picks as nothing more than potential depth players 5-7 years from now. Like it or hate it, but character trumps talent with KH in charge. So I assume AA is traded this summer for like a 3rd rounder. I understand we can’t carry 2 goaltenders at $9 mil combined and still resign Larkin/Aa/Mantha/Bert, but this is just a testament of how badly KH mismanaged the cap, so now he will be trading talented players and be left with all those untradeble contracts. I just see nothing positive about this trade, sorry. I do not even consider it a trade, just gave 26 year old goalie away.

i think KH will have no other choice but to buyout Abby and/or Helm. Yesterday Abby was atrocious, skating with a piano on his shoulders...

I think the most surprising thing here is somebody taking a 26 year old goalie who isn’t playing well. Sure, he’s giving you 1-2 good appearances in a row this year as sorta a 1B option, but that’s been after sitting awhile behind Howard who has played consistently well like Mrazek’s will to play great literally has to be recharged like a battery. Mrazek has lost a lot of painful late games and his failure to live up to his contract last year was as big a reason as the skaters that Detroit didn’t make the playoffs.
Philadelphia fortunately has a history of being willing to take on bad and inconsistent goalies to see if they can become a serviceable 1 or 1B option like they’ve done lately with Mason and Neuvirth, but Hextall is no dummy about Mrazek’s record to give much back.
Now just wait and see if McCollum or Coreau or something gets the look to see who will spell Howard for 2 or 3 games at a time.
