The Detroit Red Wings today assigned right wing Luke Witkowski and defensemen Joe Hicketts and Filip Hronek to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
The moves reduce the Red Wings active roster to 22 players: 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Blashill said although Green is skating, he will take a couple of weeks to practice fully and then a couple of weeks to get to full speed. So out probably a month. Kronwall out Thursday, Daley highly likely, Ericsson very questionable.
So i wouldnt be surprise to see Hronek in the line-up even though he was send down to GR.
The early schedule is not easy. Got to win our home games, starting with this one....
lines at practice:
Nyquist-Larkin-Mantha
Abdelkader-Athanasiou-Vanek
Bertuzzi-Nielsen-Rasmussen
Helm-Ehn-Glendening

12 games in October...most against good teams. If they get 10 points that would be a GREAT start. Looking at the schedule my guess is they will be favored to win in only one game ....10/22 vs Carolina. The November schedule is MUCH easier. Lets hope they are not out of playoff contention by Halloween! LGRW!!!

We're going through the season without a captain per khans twitter feed Four alternate captains for #RedWings as Larkin and Nielsen join Abdelkader and Kronwall. No captain this season. Blashill said Larkin will wear the A at home and Nielsen on the road ^^^^^I hate that^^^^ pfft...Ab-duh-kader on a top line

the problem with Abby is that they Don't know where to play him…
there is no way he can follow AA and Vanek...it won't last ...don't worry.

On paper I think our line up is improving. I think we still have a few too many dime-a-dozen players i.e. Helm, Abby and Glenny. At least Glenny is good at face offs. And I'm sorry but I'm still not sold on Bertuzzi either. If he's a true agitator and bags 15 goals I'm sold. 8-10 goals and he gets in people's faces to me he's just another dime-a-dozen player.
But let's day dream a little. Let's assume Zadina and Valero prove to be the real deal and insert them as subs into the Columbus projected starting line up - like this:
Zadina-Larkin-Mantha
Nyquist-Athanasiou-Vanek
Valero-Nielsen-Rasmussen
Ehn-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi
Size, grit, speed - I like our team !

Hey guys! Have been really busy lately, but not going to miss the season opener. Excited to see young guys, win or lose, I am sure they will play hard.
Happy to see the board alive and well:)

The Wings today recalled Luke Witkowski, Joe Hicketts and Filip Hronek from GR.
Additionally, the Wings placed defenseman Jonathan Ericsson and Niklas Kronwall on injured reserve.
No surprise there, i knew that as soon as these kids are send down they'd be back in a hurry. Our old poops can't stay healthy !"

Hmmm Kronner? WTF was that guy thinking in returning anyway? Knees are gone. I'm shocked - not.

5 rookies in the lineup...I like it.
Didnt like the first power play goal though.

Hopefully at least one of the young guys can turn into a scorer. Five SOG in the first period? Didn't see it but that HAS to improve.
